I guess that means I'm not predestined, huh?
***I'll try again. What do you believe would happen if one of the elect were not found?***
I misread you as attacking Calvinists. I apologize for my sarcasm.
If they did not did not find any elect, then there were none there to find. Calvinists believe that we are called to preach the Gospel, and God will draw his own to Him. That is why Calvinists have traditionally been at the forefront of Evangelistic work. We knot that we are the mouthpiece for the Holy Spirit.
Exactly my point.
How about it?
SD
There are people he did not predestine.
Duh.
***The simplistic idea that good people get material, temporal rewards and bad people get material, temporal punishments is disproved by opening your eyes.***
Be glad you live in a country that God has blessed. It might not be blessed for much longer.
That's it. Someone will come along and say that is "hyper-Calvinism" and not true Calvinism. But the logic is inescapable.
SD
Because if you have the Holy Spirit inside you, you will try to love God and obey his commandments.
**I guess that means I'm not predestined, huh?**
That's up to God to decide.
I used to be Arminian myself.
And then I decided to stop hating Calvinism and look at Scripture.
Hmmm.... Catholics are the largest Christian denomination in the USA, Italy, France, many parts of Germany, Poland, Argentina, Chile etc. etc. Hardly what I would call poor countries.
I don't believe he is a puppetmaster.
He is unthwartable because for the 50TH TIME....SCRIPTURE SAYS SO.
This has got to be one of the best Freudian slips I've ever seen.
According to Calvinists, of course.
There are people he did not predestine. Duh.
So there is no rationale, no rhyme or reason? Just God's fiat? (He said so.)
Isn't there a question of sin?
SD
Funny. I thought you had already decided for Him.
So, you believe that instead of dying as a ransom payment for sin, Jesus just died to make salvation possible? He died to just possibly save somebody, not to actually accomplish it and truly be able to say "it is finished" on that Cross?
Calvinism is not arrogant. On the contrary, if you believe in the doctrines of grace is is humbling because there is NOTHING in me worthy of any grace at all, but yet he gives it to me.
wow.
Look into foreknowledge. It is tied to God's decrees. It is not simply knowing beforehand.
That doesn't even make any sense. God is the Author of Scripture. He doesn't behave in a certain way cause Scripture says so.
What you are saying is "I don't have an argument, so I'm falling back on my interpretation of Scripture."
SD
and the T and the W ain't even side by side
Why would God reward people for having faith that he had pre-destined them to have? They did not choose to be faithful, so what's the point of rewarding them for it?
God's covenant of grace has been through all the ages. Even Abraham's faith, not works, was accounted to him as righteousness.
