Buying a stun gun in Illinois will soon require the same background checks and 24-hour waiting period as buying a handgun or rifle.
Governor Rod Blagojevich signed legislation that approves the restrictions, which go into effect January First. In addition, stun gun owners in Illinois will be required to have a state firearm owners identification card.
The governor says the 50,000 volts a stun gun puts out can be lethal, so the weapons should be treated as seriously as the state treats firearms.
While law enforcement officials will be exempt from the stun gun rules, much of the debate over the weapon has stemmed from deaths and serious injuries of people who were stunned by officers.
Stun guns are prohibited for civilians in at least seven states, including Wisconsin.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Well, 50,000 volts might be fun at a party, but for REAL satisfaction, ya just can't beat that 'THWACK' sound ya get when a bullet hits solid flesh!
Sorry, but all people from Illinois are screwed. The first guy to defend hisself with a pencil-eraser will be arrested because: "YOU COULD PUT AN EYE OUT WITH THAT!!"
'Please deliver me from these fools!'
'Too late! There's too many of them'..............FRegards
Screw it, build your own stun gun. Its not that complicated.
