Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. This stupid brat must have been aware of a very high profile Indonesian case in which two young men about her age were BEHEADED for smuggling drugs into Indonesia, despite the best efforts of the government to halt their execution. Unlike Western countries, these foreigners take their laws seriously and most of us who travel have been warned repeatedly that no matter where we come from, when we are in a foreign land we are under the laws of that land. Being a cute 20 year old surfer girl butters no parsnips when it comes to smuggling drugs. And just what else would you expect the poor brat to say except "I was set up"? Perhaps she is not having fun in jail. But then again, perhaps the next girl who thinks she'll make a quick buck by smuggling drugs into Indonesia might take a few minutes to weigh the risk.

He said that the foreigners take their laws seriously. That is pretty amusing as the "Judge" gave the Bali bombers short sentances because they are scared of the local Islamofascists. That sounds fair.

I think that some folks are applying western standards to this hellhole of a prison. It sounds like she will be dead within five years. No one deserves that for smuggling marijuana.

I can't read minds, but I think the poster you are responding to probably hasn't read up on the case.

There was a lot of exculpatory evidence and statements, including information from a person already serving time. Based on what I've read, I think she has been railroaded.
