Nashville -- Powerful state Sen. John Ford, now under house arrest as he awaits trial in a federal corruption case, has resigned, according to a letter read Saturday by the lieutenant governor.

Ford, a member of the Senate for more than 30 years, was arrested Thursday as part of a two-year FBI sting operation nicknamed "Tennessee Waltz."

No mention by the AP that he's a Democrat.

What liberal bias?

Don't be silly - this was a big favor to Harold Ford Jr.'s senate ambitions.

Wow, surprising...

I figured he would play the race card, summon Marion "The Bitch set me up" Barry, and the Reverends Jesse Jackass and Al Sharpton.

as the article does not identify his party affiliation in the first centence, may I safely assume he is a democrat?

Is there a reason Ford's party is not identified? They identify the house leader as a Republican, but not Ford.
Not being from Tenn. I do not know the Fords

From what I've read about this guy, he probably doesn't have enough lifetime left to clear his name--LOL!

One of the saddest things about this is that he has fathered so many children--and they will probably all be messed up because of the chaos of a family they were born into.

If you made an assumption about the political party of a black, big-city, elected official, you would probably be correct.

Ping!

I think we could safely say, "Hello Senator Ed Bryant". Bryant prosecuted member of the Ford family during the 1980's. He'll take down another Ford in the Senate race next year.
