WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats said they hoped the Senate's vote to delay confirmation of John R. Bolton as U.N. ambassador would force the White House to release long-sought classified information about the embattled nominee, or perhaps to pick someone else for the job.

Please keep in mind that all the people demanding the documents already plan to vote "No". They are asking for the documents so they can have all the information. So the question is, "If the documents exonerate Bolton, will they change their votes from 'No' to 'Yes'?"

NY Times carrying the RATs water once again -- you could give those lowlifes every document on Bolton and they would still vote no. NY Times is a useless paper!

Unbelievable! These obstructionist rats should receive the same fate as little Tommy Dashole in 2006.

There's no way in hell they're ever going to get those documents. They know it, and so does the NYT. This is nothing more than a stall, with the goal of picking off enough wavering RINOs to kill Bolton's nomination. Unfortunately, Thune's flipping on the nomination is only going to embolden them.

John Bolton, the very first issue we turned to, we got what looks to me like a filibuster. It certainly sounds like a filibuster ... it quacks like a filibuster. -Majority Leader Frist

Hopefully, this message comes through. It's a key for the Dems not to be able to fig-leaf what they do.

If the Democrats bottle this up - Bush should just leave the seat open, or even close the UN mission until Bolton is confirmed.

regardless of the RATs obvious ploy here, i think if a senate committee requests some documents they should be given them, what's the big deal?

if the whitehouse gives them the papers, then they can vote, problem solved.

Why aren't they using the word "filibuster"?

Ver perceptive question. Polls show that a high percentage of American voters don't like the Senate to being doing Filibusters, hence the need for some reason for delays...

Thune flipped because of BRAC. Ellsworth ended up on the list. He wants to send a message.

I was guessing it was as a consequence of the BRAC and Ellsworth AFB in S Dakota, he ran on keeping it open as one of his major items I think.

BRAC has it on the list for closing.

did the state department site national security as their reason?

"“I don’t think we’re stiffing anybody here,” State Department spokesman Tom Casey said. “We feel we’ve given all of the information that’s required under those circumstances.”"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7775160/

all i'm saying is give them some papers, black out what you don't want them to see, send them 800,000 pages when they only requested a few, let them sort through it.

they made a move that delayed this longer and in some folks mind plays out like the whitehouse is being obstructionist! the longer it goes on the more people get uncomfortable and could turn tail and vote against him.

get a clue.

Why can't the prez just make a recess appointment and leave the Dems holding their arses? I'd love to hear Pelosi scream over that one.

Why bother? He has now been filibustered. Monday is a recess. A recess appointment is in order. The RATs are only emboldened by their victory over judges. Just put Bolton in to remind them of the limits of their power.

But I am not holding my breath for this President to do what is neccessary. His resolve in foreign wars does not seem to extend to domestic battles.

The Dems giving aid and comfort to those thugs over at the UN...

Oh, yeah, that looks real good...

Keep digging, guys. Keep digging. But it won't be Bolton's fate you'll be sealing...
