Agree on G. Allen, trust but verify the Conservative creds of anyone that runs!

Senator McCain has lost nothing. If Hillary Clinton is the Democrats' candidate in 2008, what alternative would the Republican base have?

First, McCain has no chance of winning the Republican nomination. It's Freeper-types that vote in primaries and we will crush him.

McCain would be worse than Hillary, however. With Hillary, a conservative candidate could be nominated in four years. If McCain become President, it would eight years before a conservative could reach the White House.

If it's true Frist was in on the deal, he's walking political dead man as well. But, that hasn't been confirmed.

My last remaining interest in the Republican Party (the very last and only) is to destroy the McCain candidacy in 2008.

That's right. Then same anger and pain we've felt by this betrayal on the judicial nominees, I want McCain to feel. I want to stick political dagger through his heart.

Well, I will say that McCain did have a substantial amount of GOP base in 2000. However, much of his support was purely from the MSM.

While I agree that FRIST is NOT a strong leader, I would like to know WHO in the entire GOP Senate could stand up to the MEDIA darling McCain? Nary a one. In addition NOT any other GOP Senator could have pulled off what McCain did FOR THE SIMPLE reason that the MSM would have SHRED HIM/HER to bits.

The very fact that the MSM was ON HIS SIDE TO BEGIN with says everything you need to know about the eventual outcome.

When you are a media darling unless you possess the determination of Truman and the personality of Reagan you have no chance to fight the MSM and the entire Dim Party.
