It is as logically impossible to separate the troops from the military as it is egg whites from an omelet.
Possibly it is a Great Conspiracy carried out by DoD civilians. Hollywood uses the scenario often, and if it is from Hollyweird, it has to be true. < / extreme sarcasm>

Consider that phrase "union journalists". What could be worse or more defamatory. Perhaps "Union Lawyers"? Imagine the shame of being a journalist and a union member to boot.
Then there is the word powerful. By what measure? How is this power of journalists exercised or brought to bear?
