The majority has to act like one and not put up with Democrat BS. Isolate the worst of the old-time ideologues among the Democrats - Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Feinstein, Byrd, Biden, Boxer, and others - give them no privileges other than those that are absolutely obligatory, deny their putrid input into the legislative process. Negotiate only with the most conservative of Democrats, make them de facto new leaders by virtue of being the only ones able to get anything done. Stick to the letter of the law or change it but don't ignore it.

Isolate the worst of the old-time ideologues among the Democrats - Kennedy, Kerry, Schumer, Feinstein, Byrd, Biden, Boxer, and others You're right. Instead, what the Dems have done is isolated the worst of our guys. It's "Jumpin' Jim Jeffords" all over again....The Repubs get a 50-50 split in the Sen, so peel-off one limp-wristed Republican. Repubs get a 5 vote majority, so peel-off six limp-wristed Republicans. They'll be down another four seats in '07, so they'll work to peel off 10 limp-wristed Republicans. The "Stupid Party" seems to fit.

In the McCain-led press conference, did you see Byrd's trite recital of Franklin's quip, "a republic if you can keep it?" All I could do was grit my teeth. Byrd actually believes he's relevant, and millions of Democrats agree. It is interesting that they believe that this compromise "saves" the republic.
