Yes, I think this makes it likely we will lose the White House in '08, and quite possibly lose seats (and most of our clout) in the Senate in '06. An utter disaster today.
I think you're all being incredibly myopic.
We get three Justices where we had none. The nuclear option might not have passed anyways. We can probably get more, since the Democrats have backed down much further than we have.
By agreeing to this, the Democrats have implicitly accepted that their earlier stand was not a result of "extraodinary circumstances."
But, in general, as a long-time reader of both FreeRepublic and DU, I'll just note that I could count the number of times that Bush or the Democrats have been declared "finished" by a frenzied mob only using a scientific calculator.
