You don't understand squat. You are dead wrong. Members of the President's party will not make any deal with the President's appointments without at least informing the White House. If they did it blind-sighting the White House, they would permanently face the wrath of the President. Politics could be your mother's milk, but you are probably lactose intollerant.
You must be about five.
Hon, you don't understand politics.
Really.
Less said, the better. You aren't adding anything to the discussion other than pointing out you don't understand how things work in DC.
"they would permanently face the wrath of the President."
True. But there are a couple of things in play here. First of all, if made without the knowledge of Bush, his wrath will be made known at a time of his chosing.
And so what? Some of the dealmakers are eyeing his job. They want to be seen as a stronger man than Bush. McCain has been screwing Bush left and right since he lost the nomination in 2000. This is not new territory for him.
This White House/president ( whom I voted and worked for, BTW ) is out of the loop, has a VERY bad record on making the Senators of his party bend to his will, and makes Clinton looks like LBJ, in that area ; which he wasn't.
Please cite just two examples of President Bush making a Senator "face his wrath", when they went against him. Come on, oh "expert", list just 2. LOL
Hang in there. IMO, you are responding to a woman who is a megalomaniac. She thinks she knows everything and she is vitriolic against posters. Another poster mentioned that she embibes the ETOH and loses control.
