A federal judge whose husband and mother were slain by a disgruntled litigant urged Congress on Wednesday to help bring an end to "truly dangerous" verbal attacks on judges that might lead to violent action. In addition to asking lawmakers to "publicly and persistently repudiate gratuitous attacks on the judiciary," Lefkow called on Congress to increase funding for the U.S. Marshals Service, which protects judges. She also wants legislation to ban putting personal information about judges and other government officials on the Internet without their permission.

oooops...was that a verbal attack?
Obey the Constitution, then we'll talk, Mrs. Federal Judge.
Seems to me the first step in having respect is to behave in a manner that merits respect. Demanding it as a perk of having a black robe while the judiciary dismantles the constitution and the social fabric of our nation is ridiculous.
This is just a repeat of the classic liberal attack that Clinton pioneered after the Murrah bombing. In effect, he sold the country, for a short time, on the notion that Newt and Rush were somehow responsible for the bombing because they fostered disrespect for the government. As a result of that disrespect, McVeigh bombed the Murrah building.
So the upshot is, we have to pretend we respect judges and the feds so that crazy people won't attack them. Every time a crazy person attacks a judge or a liberal, it proves we are not sufficiently respectful and we have to try harder to be respectful.
Why don't the judges just rule that Congress can't say these things anymore. Call it an emanation of a penumbra of Article III.
When Judges stop making law maybe.
"Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!, now go away...or I will taunt you again!"
A federal judge... urged Congress on Wednesday to help bring an end to "truly dangerous" verbal attacks on judges that might lead to violent action. Damn straight! Tell that Harry Reid to shut up. Schumer, too. |
How about some of these judges having respect FOR US!!!!! They are our public servants, we don't exist for their benefit.
She should resign her lifetime position and return to private life.
Hey, that's the risk of the job. These appts are for life, right? They get nice large raises while the rest of have to make do. Plus, these federal judges keep crossing the line making law instead of their job which is to interpret the law. Now they want protection when they screw up? No way, Jose! No how! End of discussion! Suspect these judges will want next hazardous pay on top of the plush salary they already receive.
"Judges... should always be men of learning and experience in the laws, of exemplary morals, great patience, calmness and attention; their minds should not be distracted with jarring interest; they should not be dependent upon any man or body of men." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to George Wythe. July 1776.
"These decisions [of federal judges] nevertheless become law by precedent, sapping by little and little the foundations of the Constitution, and working its change by construction before anyone has perceived that this humble and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Adamantios Korais. Mid - 1780s
"Knowing that religion does not furnish grosser bigots than law, I expect little from old judges." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Thomas Cooper. 1810.
"This member of government was at first considered as the most harmless of all its organs. But it has proved that the power of declaring what law is, ad libitum, by sapping and mining, slying and without alarm, the foundations of the Constitution, can do what open force would not dare attempt." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Edward Livingston. 1825.

I'd sooner pay for a security system for a family stuck in a crack neighborhood as I would for these folks that have gotten fat off the sweat of our brows. They want a home security system they can buy it like the rest of us have to. It's not like she's making a provery wage.
The entitlement mentality the "ruling class" has developed over the past 20 years is truly disgusting. A couple of judges get popped and they freak like it's the end of the world. Hey Lefkow, sorry it happened, but guess what, it happens every day to us "ordinary" folk. You don't want to take the very, very minor risk of a whackjob taking you or your family out? Quit your job and don't leave the house.
Or better yet quit your judge job and work as a solo cop on a major drug highway.
Oh yeah, that'd never do, you're part of the ruling class and as a cop you'd have to mingle with the rest of us.
Sorry.
"In a republic, the judiciary is never above criticism."
I guess that is the point. How far from totally losing the Republic are we?
Of course the DUmbocRAT attack on judges nominated by Bush for higher courts, well they're open game, right????
Horses**t! They ARE the CRAZY people.
