Then I guess I misubderstood your message. You indicated why go to a catholic school if you aren't going to following its tenets? My reply was the fact that there are a lot of catholics who don't follow the tenets of their religion.
I don't know about the other questions, but my high school graduation ceremony had cops there.
There was no violence, threat of violence or rumors of it.
It was held at a private university which also had its own security.
I always assumed that the reason my high school had cops at the ceremony was due to the overwhelming number of people that attended.
I'm not offended by your posting, I'm just offended by the picture. not trying to sound cranky or anything. my first post to start this exchange was me trying to make a joke, which apparently has come off very poorly.
The "safety reasons" I read in another article were that:
"St. Jude does not have any elevators, which means students have to travel up and down stairs to get to class. Mitchell said Cosby tore her anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, in her knee last year and had also experienced morning sickness a few times during class."
Long before she was pregnant, she hurt her ankle and was on crutches. Big deal.
Morning sickness is LONG over.
Peggy Noonan wrote that about 15 years ago. Some HS graduation that she attended.
The article doesn't say anything about "her boyfriend". Now a days, its hard enough to know who a father is in a marital relationship, let alone a casual one. Since the reporter didn't interview anyone at the school, we don't know the whole story. Did the boy who was allowed to graduate admit paternity? As my old anthroteacher liked to say, "It's a wise child that knows its father."
The article from the source at the top of this page does.
I don't understand those people, either. If you don't like what any group stands for, quit. Join another group. But don't cs around. That's bad for you, and bad for the group.
Jump to conclusions much?
The girl's father is in the military, stationed in Rome.
WHAT? CATHOLIC SCHOOL GIRLS HAVING PREMARITAL SEX? THIS CANNOT BE TRUE
I dunno, perhaps because they are her guardians and responsible for her trespassing?
What we are witnessing here is the loss of SHAME in our society.
Or she could have followed the teachings of her church and kept her pants on until after she was married.
Agreed.
Highly if not totally unlikely.
Honestly. A girl unauthorized to get on the stage does so and the police go arrest her mother and aunt for her trespassing?
I don't think so. There is something important missing from the story.
Since when does getting pregnant out of wedlock mean you no longer have "rights"?
As I wrote before, if everyone there who's a sinner couldn't attend there'd be no ceremony. She's just an easier target for the high-and-mighty--who of course are NOT sinners, oh no, they're all perfect!--to get on their high horse.
So if Jesus ran this school he'd shun her?
When I hear Dr. Laura, the words nude photos, adultry, and divorce come to mind, along with queen hypocrite.
The typical evolving-morality mindset. Unfortunately, it's not limited to the secular world.
(Daddy Fornicator should have been banned, too.)
,,, overkill or was there more to it?
