True. Indeed South East Asia needed to be freed from the Japanese. They just had no chance. Too bad we had to save Europe's sorry pacifist ass.
This term has been so misused now, as to render it meaningless.
Yes, I (and others) know as we have been following the Oil for Food scandal for years, and that includes George Galloway.
The context:
Coleman's committee released a report last week naming Galloway and two other European politicans as recipients of illegal oil allocations from Saddam (also U.S. companies, including the indicted Bayoil).
Galloway then demanded an appearance. He was granted it.
The first panel to appear before Galloway was sworn in (and he was sworn in) were three men on the committee, one for the minority, laying out the evidence for the labyrinth-like allocation scheme.
It was in that context that Galloway appeared before two Senators. Norm Coleman, whose statement introducing Galloway took about 5 minutes giving a thumbnail summation of the evidence against him in particular and he also read into the record a letter Galloway had written to Saddam praising him (Coleman acknowledged Galloway's later modifying comments about this damning letter).
It was then Galloway took the stage. He came off as a rude, anti-semitic bully who was clearly lying.
Carl Levin's opening comments before the hearing harped on American interests not having clean hands, but his questioning of Galloway was very pointed and when Galloway time and again tried to ramble away from answering, Levin demanded an answer.
It was quite effective. Having granted him the appearance he had demanded and having made a record of the facts to date, he was dismissed.
It was in no way a victory for Galloway.
I watched it live.
I also watched the panel that preceded him.
I've been following this story for years.
I want others to see it and I did not ask that your link be removed.
I hope the record is clear on that.
Before I'd heard from you (or of you, new person), I'd watched it live and bookmarked the Galloway video from the BBC.
Why you are zeroing in on me is the mystery here.
I do recall you stated in one of your removed comments that there is no evidence against Galloway. That, of course, is false.
That and your misrepresenting the case against Galloway.
By all means, your link (I have not clicked it but will take your word for what it is for) to the video is welcome, your attitude is not.
The hearing was watched and many people posted commentary during it on this thread:
