they didn't exist in 1996
oops. 1999, eddie bauer. Great vehicle, fantastic turning radius, smooth ride, poor gas mileage. After three kids, you have to have the extra space behind the third seat. Thus, the suburban. For a millisec, pondered the Honda Odessey until I pulled up to an intersection next to one and saw the imasculated guy behind the wheel. The decision was made.

I don't think the fact that in 1996 the Ford Expedition didn't exist will phase this guy even a little bit. Just look at his posts... and you will easily come to the conclusion that he simply made up the so called facts to back up his assumption

Eddie Bauer didn't sign onto any of the Expedition Models,.... His signature Ford Model was the Explorer, I know of no Expeditions with his signature on them

Actually, it was one of the least expensive ragtops at the time, and yes the leather,...wasn't.

Good Job, but you're only three years off
I have owned an operated a Bodyshop since 1988, and I have never encountered an "Eddie Bauer" Expedition. But since you posted the link to a 1999, I must have missed that model back then. But You still need to show me a pic of a 1996 Expedition

Gnite Tulsa, You've been a good sport despite the questions about your "Newbieness" and your questionable knowledge of the facts. All in all, you have been a good sport and you have earned my respect as a level headed Freeper who can debate the facts without getting too ugly.

Cool beans. It must have been a real chick-magnet. 0-60 was... 1998? Maybe we can ask Carl Sagen.

"It must have been a real chick-magnet."
For a single, newly commissioned ensign under Ronald Reagan, it was with the au pair college chicks in Newport, RI.
My better half has hidden those photo albums. Just in case I get too nostalgic.
It was totaled parked in front of my brother's house while I was helping him move. I came back to an empty curb and glass on the street. Thank goodness the persimmon woods in the truck were okay.

I've been reading through this thread and I have to say, I've been a little surprised at you. You are usually so well spoken and gentle, but there is a real harsh tone to you on this thread. I always stop and read carefully when I see your name because you are one of the most intelligent, reasonable people here. I learn much from you. This seems a little out of character though.
I understand what you are saying to an extent. The President shouldn't have to be a micro manager and there are clear procedures set up to be sure. But I don't see what would be wrong with notifying the President that these procedures had been in place. Especially since Laura and Nancy Reagan were affected.
If your wife was evacuated, along with an elderly woman who is one of our national treasures, wouldn't you get upset if you weren't informed?
What if something had happened to her and you found out later that you could have at least been able to speak to her one last time to say goodbye?
And what about the media? You know how nuts they went over My Pet Goat and those 7 minutes. Can you imagine what they would have done if he was off bike riding and didn't know what was going on before hand, when everyone else in the nation knew?
We all knew about this before the President of the United States. Doesn't that feel somehow wrong to you?
I'm conflicted about it. You and some of the others have made good arguments against interrupting his ride, but I sure can see the other side just as clearly.
I don't think he needed to DO anything, since it was all well in hand, but I would want to be informed at least if I were in his place.

So, what was there to tell him until something factual was known? Well, you could tell him
- that there was a red alert,
- why there was a red alert,
- what was being done about it,
- the status of his wife (for the sake of helping him keep his calm), and
- the current whereabouts of the critical members of the government, especially if they had been moved due to the alert.
This is pretty reasonable.....
