I sure hope the vaccine makers are working overtime to produce enough effective vaccine. With this strain being so lethal, I'd think just about everyone in the country would want to get vaccinated.

Speaking of plagues on mankind, many of our medical types here in northern California are very concerned about West Nile Virus hitting here this summer.
I'll be going around the property making sure there is no standing water as soon as the rain stops.

Do we actually know how lethal the bird flu stain is? There have been deaths in Asia, but is there a reliable estimate of how many people have been infected? And how was it obtained?
I remember the Swine Flu hysteria which pervaded the government back in the 1970's.
I suppose epidemiology has advanced since then, but unless one knows how many have been infected one can't get an estimate of lethality.
