He is the typical democrat supporter - can't argue ideas so he tries to shut the debate down completely...reminds me of the commies.

Uh, green light clue.....MOST Libs/Dems ARE commies....it's just that they dont even know it!

If the pictures are hosted on sites like rotten.com, ogrish.com and consumptionjunction, why can't the mods just block all images from those sites?

Because it is your browser that assembles the page, not FR.

Just making sure you all noted G.Mason's post #311 to ExtremeUnction. I thought it was VERY interesting!

Most dial up accounts are not static ip #'s and many cable ones aren't either, so that wouldn't work. AOL accounts generate random ip# as well.

Thanks--I sometimes use this computer for school, and given the descriptions, didn't need to see them to know I didn't want them portable.

our inbox is filled with 'em until they scroll off the bottom of the queue.

On your 'my comments' page you can choose either brief or full. If you click brief only the thread name and the person who pinged you will be displayed. You'll have to go to the thread to see what was said, but you won't have his/it's graffiti defacing your page.

I like your ZOT-Lite idea.
I am going to build on that, with your indulgence.

If it were possible to restrict users to one ZOT-lite per thread per post author, I would like to see all registered users able to issue a vote-- a ranking say 0 to 4.

0 = TOTAL ZOT
1 = Really Pushing the Tolerance Level
2 = Somewhat Offensive
5 = Average
3 = Quite Helpful
4 = EXCELENT POSTER

An inordinate amount of TOTAL ZOT votes with in a specified time or on a single thread would put a poster into temporary restriction pending review by moderators and/or Jim Robinson. This relies upon the group intelligence of FreeRepublic to allow the community to self-regulate the content.

I saw one of the photos for the first time today. It showed someone with their hind end in the air shooting liquid up and back on their face. Did it offend me? You know, I can't say it did.

That says a lot about you then, doesn't it?

People here just can't be quietly effective. They've got to respond and sometimes with responses that are just as pithy as the original offending post.

The images are bad enough. But couple them with the frequency, volume, and the racially offensive statements with them, and you have something that goes beyond being quiet.

This has escalated over the past month and a half. It needs to end. It needs to be addressed. And if making noise will do it, then I'm all for it. After all, silent dissent has done nothing but permitted his escalation.

I would still clean the cache just to make sure. Especially if you are taking that computer to a school.

The only problem with this is that person using AOL generates multiple IP addresses each visit

I have seen some scripts written for sites that will trace back a IP address through a proxy server to the originating IP. Of course they have the drawback of slowing down the site, but in this case may be worthwhile checking into.

This helps me understand a bit better the reaction I got here the first time I disagreed with the majority - called names a half dozen times. I'm sorry y'all are having to deal with harrassment.

Panda should do it. I was worried when you browser was redirected.

I was a little worried myself. No problems now that I can see. It takes this problem to a higher level though. The obscene pics are disgusting and make FReepers with children afraid to surf here. The bigoted threats are very disturbing and even if there is no serious intent behind them it calls to mind the worst atrocities humanity is capable of. Very disruptive. The addition of an actual attack on the machines of FR members perpetrated through FR servers demonstrates a willingness to actually harm others in a substantive way.

Combine those things and the concern that this cretin is more than a mere perverted prankster starts to become a much more probable reality. At the very least he's willing (and doing) intentional damage to others property. It's a real short step for someone like this to take this dementia out for a drive and inflict it directly on a human being.

It could be a stupid kid who's crying out for someone in his life to take him seriously as a person. It could be a stupid kid/adult who's sending out a rattler's warning that he's about to become the monster he's been imagining himself to be.

Would make people leary about checking FR from work on their lunch hour as well. Sigh.

If you can identify his IP, file a complaint with his/her ISP provider.
