Not-so-minor point in this photograph:
The Latvian Army standard service rifle is the US M16-A2.
That's a deliberate nose-thumbing at their largest neighbor whom they were under satellite control of for most of last century.
That's not a gun nut observation; it's of geopolitical significance.
