Hey RR,
Accept an apology from an old man that is worried about his country.I reread the thread and saw that you did know who Pence is and do think he has potential.I wrongly assumed you were one of the ones who had no clue who Pence is and still made judgments about him.I get frustrated when people say they had never heard of him and therefore Pence is a nobody and has no power or chance.Just because
you do not know who Pence is doesn't mean you shouldn't know who he is.Don't conservatives read papers anymore? My "get a clue" remark was uncalled for since you in fact do know who Mike Pence is.It is imperative that we nominate a libertarian conservative in 2008.

I really, really wish we could wait until, oh, 2006 or preferably 2007 to discuss the '08 race. [sigh]

I'll second that!

O come on now Flora, you know you love it. Every year is an election year in Virginia.

We need a true conservative in 2008, not someone who brings in votes for socialized medicine and education. We need a true conservative in 2008, not someone who works hard to get all the moderates elected over conservatives in every senate race throughout the nation (ie Specter, Isakson, Humphreys). We need a true conservative in 2008, not someone who is a self-seeking career politician who can not get any out-right support nationally after campaigning in several states. We need a true conservative in 2008 and that man is Indiana Congressman Mike Pence!

I agree either Allen/Steele or Allen/Sanford

Last year, I saw him on C-span on some kind of hearing or panel show, and he was in the audience.
I saw him questioning the people who were the speakers and host of this panel, and my gut intuition and instincts told me that he is going to be our next president of the USA.

One gut instinct meets another. I've had my political eye on Allen for a long, long time. I see him as President. It's in my mind's eye. He's the one I'm betting on bigtime.

I think that , that, down to earth genuine people like George Allen and President Bush are not really comfortable being in the arena like i.e. Presidential debates or being on TV talk shows.
The Smirk or " Forced Smile " could be just a result of him not being really comfortable sitting down with Liberal Talk Show Jerk Hosts ( not that he is intimidated by them... on the contrary ) .
President Bush's area were he is in his element is out there campaigning in the stump speeches, and being out there with THE PEOPLE.
I am sure if George Allen runs for President in 2008, and decides to get Carl Rove on his team, and manages to get Bush's people to back him, he will do fine.
This is just my opinion, but, I don't see George Allen with a smirk ( I see him being uncomfortable being on certain shows , and would rather be some were else ) I see him as the same or some of the ( Presentation ) qualities as Ronald Reagan had.
The only thing I see that could be a problem, is when George Allen speaks.
This is the same problem George Bush has, that some times he gets tongue tied, or he sometimes gets his words mixed up , but, I don't hold that against him or them ( that is why they appeal to so many Americans, because, they are both down to earth ).
IMHO ? George Allen is the better speaker of the two between George Bush and George Allen.
Now imagine ? if George Allen were to have Micheal Steele as his running mate ? that would be a powerful ticket.

You have a good question to consider.

Yes..... I agree with you on that.
Michael Steele is a rising star in the Republican party, and could possibly be the FIRST afro American VP of the USA.
But ? you and I know very well that the Democrats with their sleazy tactics will try to discredit the Republicans in some way if the Republicans run him as the first afro American VP candidate.
The Democrats will pound on the fact that he has not had much national experience in politics on the national scene and we can hear the MSM every day spin the fact that he is " inexperienced " to be our VP of the USA.
But, we will see how things unfold in the next 3 years.

Yes.... we need to keep that picture of Ronald Reagan and George Allen for prosperity, and use it during the 2008 Republican National Convention.
