He is as phoney as his made up name--John stewart. Is his made up name a feeble attempt to appeal to a WASP audience?

Obviously I don't always care for his remarks but I do find him and his show very funny.

His real last name is Liebowitz.

If he came out tomorrow and claimed that hewas changed just like Dennis Miller, his glowing biography at IMDB would be expunged and hip college students would rip up their Jon Stewart books.

From what little I have seen of his show, I don't see anything different, or more outstanding, than what is seen on Leno, Letterman, or O'Brian.

I was at Bush rally in La Crosse, Wisconsin in October of 2000 where Dubya made a gaffe or two. The thing is everyone there knew what he meant. It was funny and he probably laughed himself when it was played back to him. At one point in his stump speech he meant to say "give wings to dreams" and he actually said "give dreams to wings". Funny, but anyone, including myself, could easily have made the same malaprop. If anyone has to give the number of speeches politicians give in a particular campaign, it's guaranteed that they will flub some lines. Big deal. Like you said, the gaffes made by libs never make the news.
