Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington. The father's requests were reportedly denied by the principal, the director of education, and the superintendent. He wouldn't leave and got arrested. This district needs to hear FRom us.

How the hell is it that kids are being sent too school to be taught about being gay? Last I understood, the point of sending a child too school is too learn to read, write, math, histroy etc. But of course, what the hell do I know, I'm just a dumb redneck. This is just unfrigginbelievable.

Parker refused to leave the school unless his requests were granted, says a press statement -- and then police were summoned, who informed the father he would be arrested if he did not leave the school. When he did not, school officials had Parker arrested for trespassing.

It seems that once a person enrolls a child in public school, the child eessentially becomes a ward of the state, especially in the more liberal states. Hand the child over at 5, get him back at 18 and wonder what the hell is wrong with him.

Here's the link to their "Diversity Bookbags" program. Gee, it just sounds like some fun, innocent activities for our beloved little children, doesn't it?

""You are not permitted to infringe upon our religious beliefs and parental rights or obviate our freedom of choice, to exclude our son from material that would expose him to beliefs contrary to the Word of God in our Christian faith," the Parkers wrote in a March 4 e-mail to Jay. "

As stupid as teaching a kindergartener about homosexuality is, there’s no requirement that state schools teach only lessons that are consistent with anyone’s beliefs. There are ways to handle this, and if all else fails, get him out.

"Parker refused to leave the school unless his requests were granted, says a press statement -- and then police were summoned, who informed the father he would be arrested if he did not leave the school. When he did not, school officials had Parker arrested for trespassing."

This article’s title is misleading. He was arrested for trespassing, not for wanting to change the curriculum.

The Superindendant called the police while leading David Parker to believe that he would sign the agreement which had been faxed from the principals office. The police were waiting for him outside when he did leave the building.
The Superintendent is in violation of Article 71 Section 32A.
The e-mails between all parties are available on Article8.org's web-site.

The title is misleading because Mass. requires schools allow parents to be able to opt out of sexual education materials.

Teaching homosexuality is sexually explicit material. The father is well within his rights as a father to require the school OBEY THE LAW.

The principle is wrong. ANY discussion of homosexuality to kindigardners IS EXPLICITY SEXUAL MATERIAL.

Here we go. The school is telling a parent we know what is best for your child. If you buck us we have ways of making it rough on you. I feel so bad for the parents, they want to do what is right for there son and this is what they get. We are going to see more of this as long as the laws keep changing to fit the times and not long standing truths.

Isn't this the state that sponsored a high school conference where the teens were taught about fisting?

No wonder the recent Presidential candidate that hailed from there is so far out of the mainstream.

It is absolutely amazing to me that the educational, media, and entertainment establishments are so utterly obsessed with promoting homosexuality. You would think it is the most important thing in the world. As Michael Savage once said, after reading a list of gay-related newspaper headlines, "Gay, gay, gay."

I read this article and kept thinking, "Wasn't April Fool's Day four weeks ago? This has to be a joke!"

They're teaching this to six-year olds? The father's mistake is that he hasn't pulled his children out of public education. If he can't afford parochial school, then find people who will privately tutor.

Christian conservatives need to start pumping out about a thousand attorney activists every year. Until they do this crap will continue.

HONEST AND CORRECT OPINION:

These are the options for educating today's children:

1. Homeschool
2. A good private school
3. A combination of homeschooling/private school classes.

That's it.

I agree with the poster who said this seems too much like satire to be real...the fact that it IS real is depressing.

It amazes me that the Massachusetts Teachers Association pays for daily radio ads to whine and moan about the Republican Governor's policies, school funding, lack of respect for the efforts of teachers....blah, blah, blah. Perhaps they should look closer to home (or the curriculum) for the source of failing public schools.

We have MCAS up here, which are somewhat rigorous standardized tests students must pass to graduate. It is part of the No Child Left Behind program...you know, the one libs complain isn't funded? Students haven't performed all too well on these, so its only perfectly logical to spend time out of the 180 alloted school days befuddling 6 year olds with gays, lesbians and what appears to be other religions (Henry's First Moon Party?). Funny how there was no similarly pretentious tome on Christianity or Judaism, no?

Are math, science and reading now afterschool programs?

This appalling example of shameless liberal indoctrination should be shown to every American parent. Now, and the day before Election Day.

Ain't this the same state that had a seminar on the joy of "fisting"?

and you are surprised when a parent stands up and doesn't want that (I'm going to say it) UNNATURAL ACT is portrayed as normal and gets arrested?

Provides scientifically accurate explanations that are meaningful to young children

Believe me when I tell you these 'accurate' explanations are specific - and let's the young 5-6 year old know just what mommy and daddy are doing under the sheets.

This is information that a child that young not only has no need nor has the capacity to put in a healthy concept...but interferes with their healthy development - (in other words, screws them up - and interferes with their relationship with their parents, particularly in addition to other 'latent imprint' teachings that drive the wedge between the child and parents.

I had an organization I called "Families for Freedom", back in the 80's when home schooling in Maine got you jailed.

We fought all this to the ground, thru' networking with other groups, spent a lot of time in the Capitol and testifying, getting bills sponsored, fought these very books and other equally as destructive etc...

I was an "all expenses paid" guest of Phyllis Schafley's in a nationwide conference in DC - we had a private tour of the WH - and Pres Reagan was our guest speaker at our banquet.

Maine is now one of the leading states in home schooling - and no need to get "permission" from the state or local eds.

an aside: My daughter is married to a Navy pilot - and after their most recent deployment, their house has 4 bedrooms, allowing for each of the 3 little girls their own rooms. When their other grandparents went to visit, the little 5 year old took gramma around: "this is K.'s room, and this is C's room and this is my room!" and then with a little sad face of sympathy, said;"But mommy and daddy have to share a room."

And that is all a 5 year old has to know :O)
