'ET' Ponies Up for Letourneau Wedding

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) "Entertainment Tonight" has won the rights to televise the wedding of former schoolteacher Mary Kay Letourneau and her student-turned-fiance, Vili Fualaau. The nuptials are likely to take place next month, although a date and location haven't been disclosed. As part of the deal with the couple, "ET" will broadcast the first in a series of interviews conducted by correspondent Jann Carl on Thursday (April 28).

Letourneau, you'll recall, was a 34-year-old teacher and mother of four when she began having an affair with the then 12-year-old Fualaau, one of her sixth-grade students, about a decade ago. She was convicted of raping the boy and served a 7 1/2-year prison sentence that ended last August.

Fualaau, now 22, and Letourneau, 43, have two daughters together, ages 7 and 6. Letourneau was pregnant with the older daughter when she was arrested in 1997 gave birth to the younger child while serving her sentence. In the Thursday "ET" interview, Letourneau says she wants to tell her story because "it's really important to me that people are able to make judgments and form an opinion on things that are real. I feel like I'm happy for the public that they get to see us finally and that they aren't given misinformation or someone's opinion as information."

Some published reports claim that "ET" paid up to $500,000 for the rights to the wedding, but a spokesperson for the show tells the AP that figure is "ridiculous."

Students and teachers have been marrying for a long time. A lot of univ professors marry their students and that has been going on for a long time.

The entire sordid matter of these two has been (at best) distasteful, why not have ET continue the standard......

Ridiculous or not, they haven't denied it. This is beyond creepy. This woman is seriously disturbed and it's doubtful she's going to be satisfied on a long term basis with any male who's post pubescent.

You're right, that's just like a 32 year old woman have a 12 year old 6th grader's child ... I was distracted by the Jackson saga and didn't notice the similarities.

Just yet another reason I do not watch network television. What a total waste of time and energy. But, of course, millions of stupid democratic voting Americans will watch. Saying "oh, they make such a lovely couple." We shall see in about 15 or 20 years when she looks like his grandmother and he is getting into early middle age.

This is so depraved and so utterly morally bankrupt that I am speechless with disgust.

How much lower can our society go?

Don't answer that....please...

Do you realize that most of our grandmothers also gave birth during their teens? Back in the day you started having kids as soon as you reached child-bearing age. Does that make all our grandparents rapists?

That so many people care about this, and Michael Jackson, and all kinds of other celebrity "news" is truly disturbing. If most Americans put as much time and interest into government, education, and worthwhile pursuits we'd have a better nation.

So, are you actually saying that what she did was acceptable?

Whe he turns 26 she will seek another 14 year old. Nothing like watching a pedophile wedding.

Mrs. Exile, for some reason, loves shows like Entertainment Tonight. (It's probably the same type of morbid curiousity that makes me slow down when I pass an accident.) I heard a commercial for the "ET Exclusive!!!" on the most statutory rape-a-licsious marriage of the year. I wanted to puke. If the Pervertess was a dude, she'd be behind bars until the day the sun explodes. But because she's a chick, she gets a free pass.

Mark my words, (go on mark em), some day Toyboy's going to get sick of doing the horizontal mambo with Granny. It will be real sweet to watch that mental patient on TV sobbing.

I have no problems on mutually consenting relationships. The problem is most of the time those kind of things are coerced, but in this case it seems like they actually like each other. He waited till she is out of prison and now they are starting a family. I dont have a problem with this relationship at all.

Proudly brought to your household by Philadelphia based Comcast, owner of that wonderful ET channel which brings us this garbage along with always classy Howard Stern and the delightfully innocent Anna Nicole Smith.

Also the largest purveyor of porn in the USA, good old Comcast.
