It also has it basis in the old Arab shepherd culture. The kids and teeners herded the kids while the patriarchs sat in a tent supervising and the younger adults stood by guarding against raiders. The young shepherds aspired to becoming a warrior who did not have to follow the sheep ang goats all day long trying to avoid stepping on the pellets.
The old Hebrews (the original Bedioun) adapted gradually to urban and farming life and their subsequent dispersion among Europe instilled the Northern European work ethic in them, completely obliterating the old Bedioun culture. The absolutist Seljuk/Ottoman sultans did nothing to change this culture. They just put a surface of submission to the fearless leader on top of it.

I hope this is a translation mix up, and Arabs really don't think cars are nailed together. Well, he may have owned a British car.

In the early 90s, I was an aviation contractor in Kuwait following Desert Storm. The Kuwaitis were proud of the fact that, although they held the management positions, the expatriates did all of the work.

Random Thoughts:
#1. The oil will run out someday. They will go back to being goat herders (unless they invested wisely).
#2 My time in Afghanistan. They were some hard working people - but only when properly directed and knew that they were being treated fairly (like by Americans).

Well, credit them for one thing.

"The Islamic Nation's Problem is That Muslims Do Not Work" and have all the idle time in the world to dream up their next slaughter of the innocents.
School, jobs? But there's always time for additional demonstrations of viscous hate.
