You know, I sure do understand where you're coming from! I was JUST like YOU! Any derrogatory remark made about my President and I jumped right on to that jugular.
The problem is, that in addition to the fact that the poster you pounced all over, probably spent MONTHS sacrificing all his/her free time, family time.....working rear ends off to see that GW was back sitting in thay awesome oval office, only THIS time, with a MAJORITY house & senate! We OWNED it ALL!!! So we thought!
Do you remember what that up hill battle was like for Republicans during the election? I understand your PASSION, because I had never been more proud to be an American, as when GW became my President! He was my President Kennedy!
But on March 31st, my entire perspective changed dramatically! I saw a man choose to make one of the most difficult decisions there is for a President and that was to go against THE FLOW and march into Iraq!
He has sent many American troops into Iraq to liberate a Country from tyranny! From a man who ordered the inhumane deaths of many innocent Iraqi people!
Yet when it came to just one American. One innocent, completely vulnerable & helpless, disabled American............he stood by and he allowed a Tyrannical American Court, order the inhumane 14 day long dehydration death of Terri Schindler Schiavo.
He said he was a man who valued LIFE! Who's life would that be? Surely not the life of Terri! An innocent, disabled American who could no longer cast a vote?
Surely if gW BUsh has the fortutude to liberate an entire country from ONE man, he could save ONE woman, from an entire country!
I've never been so ashamed and so disappointed! I am one of those who sacrificed many months of my life, to assure that GW bush remained this Nation's President and THIS time, with a majority!
FOR WHAT? WHY? so FRIST can sit with reid over a cold one making deals and acting as if this judicial nominee process, is an auction on EBAY or an exciting poker game? A GAME? We'll give you 3, if you disqualify these 3, etc...
This Country needs more than ever....leadership with a BACKBONE! They had beeter find their spines soon, since I refuse to be a DEMOCRAT, but I won't remain a REPUBLICAN if these Judges are not accepted and if Bolton is not approved!
My point: RESPECT IS EARNED! It's not in a TITLE!
Thanks much for the PING! No Judges, No bolton? No votes, no money! New political Party! One which adheres to the US Constitution!
Pray for W and Our Troops
That's why nominating her to the Supreme Court would be such a wonderful move on the part of the administration.
Translation: She's a Black Christian Conservative, much worse than a White Christian Conservative!!
They portrayed Condi as Aunt Jemima, Colin as Uncle Tom, wonder what they will label the Judge.
Good for Janice Rogers Brown. I applaud her. While the Liberals may have caused her a great deal of hardship, at least her "friends" did NOT betray her and have stood by her.
We need this woman on the Supreme Court ASAP! But I'll settle for the Fed. court to which she's being appointed for the time being.
"Other" judges confirmed to the Appellate Courts (the courts that matter)? What are you talking about?
Dirty Dick Durbin first came up with the "200 judges already confirmed" bait-and-switch argument (if it can be called that).
It's like someone alleging racial discrimination at the management level of a company and Dick Durbin defending it by saying "Hey, we already hired tons of black people as factory workers and janitors!" The argument is pretty stupid but good enough for cognitively-impaired Journalists and Liberals (but I repeat myself).
Justice Brown should be Bush's 1st Supreme Court Nominee.
To Democrats, the lowest and most despised of humans.
"Religious views properly may be a part of every judge's personal life but they should have no role in the conduct a trial or hearing when that judge puts on the black robe. Impartiality and dispassion are the very core of every judge's oath. This nominee has already indicated that her judicial integrity is jeopardized by her predisposed views."
What views are those? What issues did she discuss? What predisposition did she show? What impartiality are you seeing? Or are you seeing something other than dispassion? How so?
Well stated, Ileene.
Can't say I agree with you here. People of faith are more likely to follow the rules and do not tend to be activists. They use their faith as a as a tool for moral restraint. It seem so me the more secular a judge the more activist that judge tends to be because of the lack of moral guiding principles. Additionally, people of faith do not believe in the idea of moral relativism, but rather they tend to rely on the traditions of the past and judicial precedence, things that activist judges don't really understand.
It's funny, all you have to do is look at her face to see that she isn't a liberal dimocrat. It is very pleasant. Have you ever noticed even one dimocrat who had a pleasant visage? They're all so bitter and angry.
bump!!
Are you sure about that? According to this CNN report:
Democrats have blocked 10 of Bush's 52 appeals court nominations through filibuster threats, while allowing the confirmation of 34 others.
If this story is accurate, one third of the president's appellate court nominations have been defeated, a majority of those by filibuster.
By the way, this use of the filibuster to indefinitely prevent a vote on a judicial nominee is unprecedented. Yes, Abe Fortas' nomination to become Chief Justice was delayed for four days, but at that time senators were still saying they were undecided. I doubt that after months and years of delay, the senators are still deliberating on how they will vote on President Bush's nominees.
(Besides the ethical problems that led to Fortas' eventual resignation, some senators questioned whether President Johnson could nominate someone for Chief Justice when that position was already occupied).
Good for her. I like her. She has a happy, kind, gentle face and a beautiful smile.
