With only one of the 44 Democratic senators willing to cooperate on Social Security, it's hard to see how a reform measure can pass.
That is the truly tragic line in this story. 55 Republicans cannot pass a bill.

If W wants to sell private accounts he has to point out that all gov't employees, including the professional RAT politicians, have their retirement tied up in a personal account. It is the Thrift Savings Plan and if its good enough for RAT politicians it is good enough for the rest of the country.

I hate to say - the Republicans of the 2000's are becoming the Democrats of the 80's. In love with being in power and the rest of the country be damned. there is no longer any party standing for fiscal responsibility!

I used to say the only reason I supported having a republican congress and president was for the court appointments. As this is not even being accomplished - I guess I would have to say I would rather have a republican congress and dem president. At least then the fiscal conservatives could carry the day!

"Why in the world should President Bush give a rat's behind about republican congresspeople that have to run in 2006?They've proven to be totally gutless and useless to him. He should let them blow wind. If we are all lucky, they won't win re election."

Question, would you vote for the useless Republican or his Socialist opponent?

Thank you. They know who you will vote for them.

I may vote for them on the basis of lesser of two evils but I won't support with time, energy and money and I'd do my best to encourage and support opponents in the primaries. I'm totally disgusted with the so called republican majorities and I wouldn't loss any sleep if a few of them got knocked off in the elections. Some times you have to back up before you can go forward.
