Good muslims are terrorists they are emulating the profit (spelled that way on purpose) as the koran commands. Bad mulims are the ones who don't follow the koran and get lumped in with the rest of the infidels.

Shouldn't the title be "Why Terrorists Become Good Muslims".

If a Muslim kills himself in the forest - out of range of a CBS camera crew --- is he still dead?
Would anyone care?

I don't buy the conclusion that "All it takes to be infected is to become acquainted with the Quran and take to heart what it says." If this were true, then all Muslims would automatically become terrorists. Obviously this is not true. My guess is that the explanation is simpler. The young men profiled here had some life crisis that they couldn't handle, and they retreated into that aspect of themselves which seemed most authentic and permanent, namely Islam. So they "rediscovered" their Muslim roots, but this is just a cover, a mask, for their inability to cope with social reality. My 2 cents.

Not all Muslims are terrorists just as not all Christians are like Christ, because just as many of them are backsliders just like us. :)

You take out the words Muslim and Islam and substitute any other racial/ethnic/group in its place and you have good old fashioned Hate Rhetoric.

You would be surprised how many Muslims have never read the Quran in their native language. Many of them only hear it read in Arabic and have no idea what it says.
Additionally, only a very small minority have ever read the Haddiths, which make up the meat of Islam. These are the "traditions" which are the transcribed oral history of Muhammad's life and actions. The Haddiths are where the true problem Ali Sina identified lies.

There is a group called Apostates of Islam. From their website:
excerpt:
Who we are:
We are ex-Muslims. Some of us were born and raised in Islam and some of us had converted to Islam at some moment in our lives. We were taught never to question the truth of Islam and to believe in Allah and his messenger with blind faith. We were told that Allah would forgive all sins but the sin of disbelief (Quran 4:48 and 4:116). But we committed the ultimate sin of thinking and questioned the belief that was imposed on us and we came to realize that far from being a religion of truth, Islam is a hoax, it is hallucination of a sick mind and nothing but lies and deceits.

al-Banna was born in Jordan in 1973 to a wealthy merchant family. He was a lawyer in his country. In 2001, sometime before 9/11, al-Banna moved to the United States, where he lived in California for nearly two years, moving from one unskilled job to another factory worker, bus driver, and pizza maker. Raed did not make much money but he seemed to fit in well, traveling to such destinations as the Golden Gate Bridge and the World Trade Center, growing his hair long, and taking up American popular music. In one photograph he sent to his family, he is seen standing in front of a military helicopter while holding an American flag. Sure - he just HAPPENED to come to America in 2001 - and was ecstatic to become, instead of a lawyer, a pizza boy, etc.
He just happened to go the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the World Trade Center in NYC and have his photo in front of a MILITARY helicopter - don't we all, - (note to self: get job making pizza - it evidently pays well.)
He just happened to do all the things the terrorists were trained to do to fit in...to appear to just love us to death...oh, yeah, they did - on 9-11.
Yeah, I'm gullible, he only turned terrorist because he wasn't allowed back - the lies on his visa were caught. Yep - that's enough to turn any sweet ole boy into a mass murderer.

Your point might be valid if "muslim" and "islam" were racial or ethnic categories. But they're not. One CHOOSES to be an adherent of islam.
