Donohue is a total hypocrite who supports homosexual civil unions.

They even sniped during the past week with that "survey" showing such crap under “AP poll: New pope should push for
married and female priests," “…said greater steps are needed, in doing “more” in the sex abuse scandal.” “Catholics have considerable differences with Rome.”

“There are very few things that are absolutely unchangeable”.

Pope John Paul II put the commies in their place

In an encyclical officially stating the Catholic Church’s positions on a variety of social issues, published March, 1991, he utterly condemned it, saying:

“Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil. Man is thus reduced to a series of social relationships, and the concept of the person as the autonomous subject of moral decision disappears, the very subject whose decisions build the social order.”

The true testimony of this great pope's work is what the world witnessed over this past week - millions of faithful streaming into the Vatican. The MSM still believe they can manipulate and control through their privileged news anchor positions. If anything, this week has been an exercise for faithful catholics of media ignorance. Katie Kouric talking about NATO planes during the chanting of the Litany of the Saints, is the penultimate insult and slap in the face.

Tragically, the storm of which the author speaks is not the one that should be advanced: "the pope is dead, long dead lie the pope."

Making the pope in the modern church's image rather than the traditional one only guarantees more turmoil long after the lightning and thunder have subsided.

Admitting the anachronistic nature of the papacy itself would be a real storm and far more beneficial to the advancement of a religion-free society once the skies cleared and reason prevailed.

Or, at least that's what I get from a careful parsing of these post-pope tirades..

The Holy Spirit vs. the culture of decadence.

Seems like some fun times are ahead of us.

When they lose again, watch out.

That's when the real howling will begin. They've been counting the days since 1978.

Too late at least on FR, as the anti-Catholics have been out in full force heaping their vile slime all over the Pope and the Church.

I haven't read all of the replies, so I apologize if someone has posted this:

I was the unwitting recipient of a "poll" the other day...didn't screen my calls well enough! It was a supposed "Catholic" organization polling. The first question was: "Are you Catholic?"

I answered no, but told them that my husband is (he wasn't available).

The person on the phone said "do you ever go to church with him?"...to which I answered "yes."

The pollster said (believe or not) "good enough"; said he had several questions for me, then asked me the following(paraphrased):

Do you support continuing the Pope's conservative legacy? (strongly agree; somewhat agree; etc.).

I answered "strongly agree"....AND HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!

Guess I ended up going down in the non-Catholic column after all...although he seemed perfectly eager to count me if I answered his question correctly!

That's all very sad. Here in Australia the Pope was lauded for being a great man or peace and forsight who was seen as conservative and yet in many areas of human rights was a champion of freedom and a man of great compassion.

I was extremely and happily surprised at the treatment he was given.
