This guy is going to own Best Buy when he finishes suing the company.

There was a similar incident at a Taco Bell a few years ago. The guy telling the story called it Taco Hell. The clerk called police after the customer tried to pay with $2 bills. The police arrived and laughed at the clerk. At least the customer wasn't put in handcuffs...

A man trying to pay a fee using $2 bills was arrested, handcuffed and taken to jail after clerks at a Best Buy store questioned the currency's legitimacy and called police. According to an account in the Baltimore Sun, 57-year-old Mike Bolesta was shocked to find himself taken to the Baltimore County lockup in Cockeysville, Md., where he was handcuffed to a pole for three hours while the U.S. Secret Service was called to weigh in on the case.
THis is UNBELIEVABLE!!! ping

This guy is going to get every lawyer in MD calling him to file lawsuits against WorstBuy and the local cops.
The USSS agent was the only one on the ball here, except that the USSS agent could have phoned this one in.

Commenting on the incident, Baltimore County police spokesman Bill Toohey told the Sun: "It's a sign that we're all a little nervous in the post-9/11 world."
There's a moron who needs a new job.

"It's a sign that we're all a little nervous in the post-9/11 world"......because there are some real bad guys out there. So we will f*ck with a non-threatening Joe Schmo to regain our confidence.

If it's any consolation to you, I always ask for $2 bills whenever I enter a bank. It's a "thing" with me.
Hang in there, and never let 'em see you sweat!

Wrongful arrest.
Could be some money coming Mike Bolesta's way.

Sounds to me like Best Buy is going to be writing this guy a check for far more than $114 very soon.

This reminds me of the time I was traveling and stopped in a Subway for lunch. I ordered my food and went to the register to pay. I pulled out the smallest bill I had at the time. A $50. The cashier said they don't accept fifties. I told her that it was "legal tender, good for all debts..."etc. She wouldn't take it. I told her that was the smallest I had. She wouldn't take it. I said, "OK, I guess I can't pay for what I ordered." She shrugged and THREW THE FOOD AWAY!!
Sheesh!
