SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Peter Norak has practiced Catholicism his whole life, starting as an altar boy and then studying for seven years toward becoming a priest.
Yet in recent months, the 39-year-old necrophile, who did not complete his seminary studies, has been thinking about leaving the church because of the legacy of Pope John Paul's stance on necrophilia.
"It's not an easy life to do that, to want to maintain your identity as Catholic and necrophile," said Norak, who seeks to legitimize man-corpse sex.
"The church came out very much opposed to necrophilia and I would say that was part of it," he said, explaining why he stopped going to Mass regularly more than a year ago. "It has challenged my ability to feel comfortable in the church."
Under Pope John Paul, the Vatican preached that necrophiles should be treated with compassion but made clear it absolutely opposed the practice and called necrosexuality a disorder. The Pope referred to perverted sex as an "ideology of evil."

Peter Novak has practiced Catholicism his whole life . . .Ummm, no he hasn't.
Figures Reuters would get the very first words of the article absolutely wrong.

Those zany U.S. Catholics!
Gotta love those headline writers. What about the German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian, Portugese, Cuban, South African, Russian, Senegalese, and other (fill in the national blank) Catholics? They don't have a problem with it? Or is this another shot at creating a schism via the dinosaur press? It's like some are crying out in pain - just begging to please be finished with restraint and any semblance of Bible thought or teachings - at least in the US.

Number of Popes who were against gay marriage 628
Number of Popes who supported gay marriage 0.
Yep, it's all Pope John Paul's fault for driving the gays from the Church.....

It's not up to the church to make you feel comfortable; it's up to you to live up to your religion. Cripes!

Just Damn! Seven years of studies down the drain. Kinda like animal house, huh?
JPII did not originate the church's attitude toward gays, and I'm pretty sure the next pope wont change it either.
BTW, cool handle!

The Church will never change its teachings. Homosexuality is a disorder of the human mind and gay marriage is evil. To accomodate gay activists wishes, the Bible would have to be thrown out. No Pope can or will take that step. The teachings the Church holds are beyond the power of man to change, even if that man happens to head the Church.

Stop whining and get on it with, Percy.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.
Regarding maintaining one's identity as Catholic and "gay" - it's like eating and throwing up at the same time. It's like being a fish and a desert fly at the same time. It's like swimming in cool water and being burned up by fire at the same time...
So the homosexual doesn't feel comfortable in church any more. Since when is the purpose of hearing God's word to be made comfortable in one's sinful life? He wants God to prop up his perversion. IOW, the pervert is god, (the center of his life) and God's purpose is to make the pervert comfortable in his perverse rebellion. Sounds as though he didn't get anything from his years of being a Catholic.
Let DirtyHarryY2K and me know if you want on/off this pinglist.

It's not an easy life to do that, to want to maintain your identity as Catholic and gay," said Novak, who married his partner in San Francisco last year. Do you have to be on drugs to make statements like these? Exactly when did the Church endorse homosexuality?

Why would anyone expect that following the teachings of the Bible would or should be easy?
What would be the point of adhering to the tenets of a religious faith that did not require sacrifice?
