Good morning.
"She sounds like a true liberal."

If she was police chief in Corvallis you can bet she is.

Mini Cooper S as a cop car.....hmmmmm.

Had one when I was a kid in upstate NY. Used race in rallies and gymkhanas...took it to Lime Rock and Bridgehampton. Races in Class C and D sedans and usually wins.

In the 60s Minis won the Monte Carlo Rally 3 yrs straight; minis coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each rally.

Here's what the old Mini Cooper S could do.

Before entering the service, my last summer at home, I was cruising around in my "62 Mini and picked up a trooper tail. Not doing anything wrong but being a kid in a funny little car. I took an old 2 lane farm road, about 6 miles long between highways; lots of curves and esses and a couple hairpins. Legal speed limit 50 mph. The trooper had a Plymouth Fury with an interceptor engine; unmarked except for the hat. He followed me. I took the road at the speed limit except for the 15 mph hairpins which I took at about 40 mph. Lost him completely.

Came to the highway (4 lanes) on the other side and had to make a decision; left or right. Right. The trooper caught up with me about 5-6 miles up the road, lights flashing. Asked me to get out of the car and said "What the hell kind of car is this?" No ticket, just car talk on the side of Rte 9.

Mini as a cop car? No way....it's a getaway car.
