PITTSBURGH -- A local state representative charged in a serious hoax said he is being targeted.

State Rep. Jeff Habay is accused of lying when he told authorities he received an envelope containing a suspicious white powder from a constituent.
Habay's attorney believes his client is the victim of a vendetta.
Defense Attorney Jim Ecker said, "This is what really bothers me, is he is a politician. There isn't a month that goes by that I don't pick up a newspaper or watch you guys on TV and I see so and so politician, whether it's a U.S. senator, a local person, indicted or arrested."
Ecker said Habay will plead not guilty when he turns himself in Tuesday.
