When I want the opinion of an Arkansas hillbilly, I'll be sure to contact you. Until then, bugger off. My post wasn't addressed to you.

I am sure you know that you are speaking to the converted as it pertains to the issues that have Freeper's hearts and minds these past weeks (not all) and I do hope that once the dust settles that they take a look at the PINGS they may have missed like the plight of this soldier and perhaps use their talents to help him, if there is anything that we can do at this point in time.

Beloved returns from overseas today, will ask him his thoughts on this issue.

Thanks for your comment.

You have a personal preference...wouldn't project it on "most Americans." FWIW, I have a living will. My personal preference.

I think that the preference is quite clearly shared by most Americans. In fact, it seems to be one of those issues where many express such a preference in private, even if they say the opposite in public.

I'm glad you have a living will. I do, too...mine states what I said...that I don't want to be left living. What's yours say, if I may ask?

Because my child is still a minor, and I have custody, mine states that I wish to remain living by artificial means. This will make it difficult for custody to be changed to the mother instead of my family. When my child becomes an adult, I'll switch it to state that I do not wish to be kept alive by artificial means.

Saying he walks is a bit deceptive. He is branded. This is where you have the buttons torn off your coat and your sword broken. Dismissal is the commissioned officer equivalent of the Dishonorable Discharge. It is a punishment that carries mandatory appeals. He's not walking. He's facing a lifetime of scorn.

I cannot disagree with you but I do think there is something to be said for a mercy killing. While he should have "let the man suffer" he couldn't. I just do not find malice from what I have read.

I do think by what I have read on this thread and other's I have posted about him, that he may find more acceptance than I had thought or perhaps you think as well. I do not know for sure but it is a gut feeling.

One can only wonder how many mercy killings have occured in war's past ... what if there had been the technology of today then, it might be shocking.

Thanks for the comment.

Today, before reading your comment, I was thinking that I would like to find a way to get Capt. Maynulet's Resume to see if I could find a place within the company I am with (we are a $8B dollar Defense related organization). I am the GM of one of the Divisions. If you, or anyone else, know how to contact the hero Capt. Maynulet, then please let me know, or have him send his resume to me via my email and I will get it to the right people for them to have a look at for consideration. There are numerous excellent positions openings within my company. He deserves priority consideration. In fact, depending on his education, I may be able to offer him a very nice job!

Agreed...but these days of "up is down," mercy killing is considered part of a "culture of death." :-(

It does seem that perhaps the code should be modified to reflect that mercy killing is not evil. I don't want officers ignoring the code, yet I fear it will be difficult to codify knowing when it's okay to shoot a wounded combatant (or suspected combatant), enemy or friendly. It's tough when common sense becomes so controversial.

It's ridiculous. Men go to war to kill the enemy. What the he!! are they supposed to do? Shoot them, then give them band-aids and neosporin? It's bad enough we have leftist morons blocking the front of recruiting offices, and marching down our main streets calling them baby killers, and now this PC crap on the battlefield.

And they delay and protect that murderer Akbar -who fragged a couple of Officers before they jumped in.Hear his military attorneys will claim he was temporarily insane-
so he can go to some rest home where he can become imam
to the demented.

And it makes me sick inside--this Akbar scum should have been given a blindfold, a last cigarette and shot against a wall, after his trial. Instead he is the darling of the leftists, gets a lot of fan mail from them, and will live out a better life than many on this planet.

What's the old Al Sharpton saying; "no justice, no peace"?

It is already hamstringing our troops, it has to be hurting morale something fierce, and just killing recruiting. I'm not sure I could counsel a kid to join the military under these circumstances but... if they destroy our police and our military the republic WILL fall.

Absolutely. And your scenario is EXACTLY what the left wants. It is killing them that we have a volunteer army, a military draft fits into their hateful plans so much better.

After this and a few other incidents that have occurred (Female soldier being discharged after mud wrestling topless), I would certainly hestitate about enlisting. Well, I will tell you flat out I would not enlist after seeing what has happened to these soldiers.

Know him - he's not a West Pointer, but he's a good man! Has nothing to do with the "club".
