Did you know that Adams and Jefferson, once friends, then bitter rivals, then friends again both died on July 4th... 50 years to the day of the signing of the Declaration of Independence?

Yes, indeed. And Adams' last (erroneous) words were: Jefferson still lives. Jefferson had actually passed away a few hours earlier. The Lord had them die on July 4th...in fact, both of them CLUNG to life in order to see July 4th come in.

Adams' letters to Jefferson after they mended their personal fences are wonderful. They really loved one another despite the bitterness of the presidential campaign years, although it took them fourteen years to speak again. Sad.

I'm sorry for the departure.
