Michael Schiavo Plans to Cremate Terri
Michael Schiavo has taken steps that will prevent investigators from examining Terri Schiavo's body for evidence of abuse after she dies a suspicion her family has repeatedly raised as her death grows more imminent.
Schiavo's attorney George Felos told the Washington Post on Friday that Terri will be cremated and buried in a plot owned by Michael's family in Pennsylvania.
Terri's parents had filed a request with the court to block the cremation plans, saying it would violate the religious beliefs of their daughter, who was a practicing a Catholic.
But as with every other motion filed in the case on behalf of Bob and Mary Schindler, the Florida courts have rejected the request.
A 1991 bone scan performed on Terri Schiavo showed unexplained injuries to her vertebrae and legs.
Terri's brother, Bobby Schindler, told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" on Thursday that a doctor has testified that she might have been strangled before she was found unconscious in her home in February 1990.
When she married MS, she became a Schivao. Belongs to that family. When a woman marries, he father/ family, "gives her away."
Giving up her maiden name, just like all women who marry.
Right?
No honor among...
The state must demand an autopsy period!
He's not quite that much of a genius; he's being advised and helped by Felos and Greer. Don't give him too much credit--the two other sleazeballs helped him out.
Oh, RIGHT! The local coroner would have to have enormous hairy 'nads and be well armed before he calls for that...
Kudos to the New York radio host who pointed out this morning how bizarre it will be for Michael Schiavo to bring a date to his wife's funeral.
Judaism prohibits cremation.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
You know, you don't know a thing about the Catholic Faith. If you want to discuss YOUR beliefs, go ahead. But don't try to say "Catholic this" or "Catholic that" because YOU are not a Catholic. You are therefore, not informed.
You want to learn or you just want to mouth off? Go read up over at http://www.newadvent.org and THEN come back and talk about what Catholics believe.
We do not have to fight religious wars. Just admit you don't have a clue and go on to the next issue.
Oh, and don't forget to pray for Terri and her family.
To bring a date and bar her family, from what I've read.
He's a sick you know what. Marrying him was a death sentence.
Wow..you would have fit right in there during the Inquisition.
She doesn't give up her faith. She is entitled to a Catholic burial and funeral Mass.
Yes, but WILL he?????? I doubt it. Greer will probably stop him.
Because they would have raised Hell on earth at the funeral and disrupted the proceedings (duh!)
I would think that it could be justified from the Bible. It's the spirit that enters Heaven, not the body. Although I wouldn't be surprised if there are opposing interpretations.
My mother-in-law has been a Catholic
for all her 89 years, so was her
hubby.
Traditionalist catholics don't cremate, but some people are doing it out of financial necessities. My mom wants to be cremated. She is very adamant about it too. I would expect judaism to be against cremation as many pagan oppressors of Jews practiced cremation and idol sacrifice by fire (Molech).
I'm afraid that's not true. Michael's legal action requested that the court decide Terri's fate. Michael's death, which presumably would be applauded on these threads, wouldn't change a thing.
I think everything that can be said has. The only hope now is an autopsy...I don't know if the Pinellas County Medical Examiner is the one who would do an autopsy but someone, whoever is the right person or agency, needs to be inundated like never before to maybe bring some good out of all this suffering. They are open 7 days per week 8-5 pm. I am going to call and fax twice an hour unitl it's over - this one's for you, Terri.
Jon R Thogmartin, MD

Terri has been treated as if she is mere chattel (property), though one might argue that even property receives better treatment by its owner.
