Awestruck, I just came back and read some of your posts regarding your dear father. I am so very sorry. (((((hugs))))) I've seen your kindness here on this board and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you did all you could for your dad. We are limited in the information we need to have sometimes and then all we can do - is the best we can do. I had a grandma in a nursing home and when she died I had creepy feelings that they had "allowed it to happen" without doing much to intervene - I felt badly too like I could have done more, but I simply did not know what to do!

It is very difficult in our society (where care institutions are money-making businesses) to discern if the people there have a loved one's best interests at heart or not. It's like walking into a used car dealership. Everyone smiles when you're considering buying.

Frankly, it seems a lot of institutions today have been corrupted to one extent or another. I have a book entitled How To Get Out of the Hospital Alive and it's no joke. They say to never leave a loved one alone in a hospital room at all and to monitor all care received. But this is not easy - very challenging.

I will say this to everyone here: Without letting your doctor know your beliefs, bring up this situation with Terri and ask him if he thinks Terri is suffering as she dehydrates. Your doctor's answer will be very telling. I am looking for a new doctor because I found out mine is pro-murder.

Also, ladies, check to see if your ob-gyn supports abortion. A friend of mine was raving about how wonderful her ob-gyn is and so I called since I was looking for one - and found out the doctor does abortions.

The very fact that Michael Schiavo is a nurse and still working should frighten us all. Sometimes I think that hospital settings attract wierdos focused on death and suffering. My sincere apologies to any nurses here - anyone supporting Terri's fight in the medical field would clearly be in their right mind and a good person. But I am sure you would agree with me on many points.

Polly said: "No. You make a lot of sense. But what deeply disturbs me is the lack of moral outrage...perhaps everything you're saying is true...it has occurred to me, too...there is no outrage...the President has not even spoken out about the fact that a puny little Florida judge has just run roughshod of the Congress, the President of the United States, the Governor of Florida, and the American People...not to mention the fact that he is murdering an innocent woman. I'm leaving the Republican party."

You go, girl! You're hitting the nail on the head. It feels as though these people have shown no compassion whatsoever to the Schindler family by embracing them with words of comfort.
