Can the Catholic church step in and anull the marriage, particularly church officials a bit more accessible than the Pope? I'm not Catholic and have no clue.

Yes, the marriage could have been annulled, but the church has no standing in FL law.

If they did, that would allow Michael to remarry. If they don't, Michael will be forbidden Catholic marriage on the basis that a man who kills his wife may never remarry.
