"But an adversarial committee stays in business by thinking and acting adversarially; and the longer it stays in business, the more implacable become both its resentments and its demands. In creating the standing committee, the Harvard faculty fashioned a permanent source of institutional discontent."

Loved this line.

Perhaps Harvard should make Sowell's Race and Culture required reading. Peoples are not distributed equally among occupations, among other things. His reference to Roman Catholics holds true not only in investment banking but also to matriculation into every Ivy League school.

Here's the bottom line. Women were meant to be mommies. It is her highest calling and her most fulfilling life path. A woman who doesn't become a mommy, either by birth or adoption, will never be really fulfilled.

Of course there are the odd exceptions but for the vast, vast majority women are genetically programmed to be mommies. You just can't deny nature without regretting it
