Nothing looks as mean as our new UCAV's will:

Yup, and it doesn't matter if the new Sukhoi can turn on a dime; it's still limited by the physiology of the pilot. UCAVs should be able to pull sustained 10G+ turns, which the pilot of the Sukhoi won't.
Besides, if the pilot is evading incoming missiles, he's going to be too busy to attack.

One of the finest aircraft movies out there (if not the finest, since on top of the great action it actually had a plot).

"No stealth systems - easy meat for an AMRAAM. So much for that idea."
How about the ABL 747? It should be able to target this supposed 5th generation fighter from 400 miles slant range with 95% or better hit capability. Talk about "over the horizon". Stealth pays dividends at all times.
Sometimes those thrust vectoring engines can cause problems:

Both MIG 1.44 and Su-47 were designed around early 90's and are still based on Soviet technology.
Su-47 will be a base for a new machine, so it will be a heavy fighter, probably a very good one, but still far behind F-22 - rather on the level of Eurofighter or French Rafale. If they want cash, then they should rather create some light multirole fighter like new American F-35, quite good, but relatively cheap - they could easily sell hundreds of them to South America, Africa and Asia.
In my opinion they just want to show how "powerful" they are and If some foreign partners (India, China...) won't be found then a whole project will be canceled in 4-5 years.
They are right that both prototypes proved excellent flight performance, but Russians are still behind in electronics.
Some exported Russian airplanes have western (French, Israeli) electronic equipment, for example these for India, but they can't do it with China, at least until the embargo is lifted, but even then European producers and politicians would put pressure on China to buy their own airplanes than only electronics for Russian machines.
Generally I'm surprised that France and Germany want to lift arms embargo on China. Puti won't be happy.

I don't see any supercruise or stealth technology in this craft. Anyway, the next generation of aircraft will not be manned. It will be the first of the drone generation. You can rest assured this is what the Skunkworks guys have in their garage these days.
They won't replace manned aircraft, but why limit yourself to the human body's limitations. Mach 2.5, 18G turns with computer assisted stability and polymer reinforced airframes.
Once again, the russians are being bottom feeders and are one step behind. The only true advantage they have is in their radar designs in my opinion.

Going to be slow. See the subtext in the article. Fast turning mattered in the era of rear angle missiles, and it is an asset to be sure. But visible and not fast, I doubt maneuverable will be an adequate compensation. Ask the Japanese...
