How quickly can Congress get back to DC?
Won't happen. Easter break now. Many congressmen are taking vacations or taxpayer-funded fact-finding trips to other parts of the world (i.e. vacations paid for by us). Terri will be dead before they return.
Good question. About 10 years ago I was talking with my Congressman and noted that, with the Internet, closed circuit sattelite, and such, there was no need for the antiquated notion of our representatives trotting off to Washington.
They could stay in their hometowns, and actually hear from hometown people after they had voted. Maybe in line at the grocery store.
My Congressman was not amused at that.
There is absolutely no reason anymore for Congress to gather in Washington, but for tradition and the need to keep a safe distance from their constituents.
