What I don't understand is if she really is a Republican why was she selling pornography? She is either a hypocrite or not a Republican.

She could easily be a Republican, just not your kind of Republican--you know, one of those people who believe in free speech for everybody, no matter how much they disagree with those others' speech. Not everyone thinks sex is dirty and evil and should be hidden under a brown wrapper if shown at all.

Does anyone think she was on her way out at Playgirl when she went public with her political affiliations? If the magazine had a policy of not hiring Republicans they could have easily checked her voter registration prior to taking her on, but it didn't matter then, why would it matter now?

Since we have no other information about her job, we really don't know. Your casting aspersions on her job status is without any basis, while that she claimed she was Republican and then got canned makes for at least some inference (even though a weak one) that one caused the other. A company doesn't need a policy to fire for political beliefs. You can still discriminate on that basis, to my knowledge.

She'll find work elsewhere if she's any good. As if a magazine like Playgirl really needs an editor, anyway. If it does, must be that gay men really do read the articles.

Zipp. That calls to mind (unfortunately,) that Paula Zahn "zipper sound" commercial at the launch of her show.

Great. Now where did I put my HURL HARNESS?

I understand she's a homosexual male trapped in a woman's body.

Amazing. I should meet her, as I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

"I wonder if many women actually buy it."

In college I knew a couple of girls that had subscriptions to Playgirl and one who had a subscription to Playboy. They were fun girls, very popular. ;o)

BS. I never saw anything in the republican party platform about working in the publishing industry. I for one would eagerly work for Playboy if the paycheck met my needs. Your argument seems to be that only people who have moral hangup about porn can be republicans. You need to browse around the Free Republic a little longer.

"In the real world employers are allowed to fire people just because they don’t like them."

Not if you don't want your unemployment premiums to go up. In arbitration you had better have a good reason for firing someone (and just because "you don't like them" or because "they are Republican" isn't good enough)or they will collect benefits and your government mandated unemployment premiums will go up.
