This is a breaking news situation.
A man entered a courtroom in the Fulton County Courthouse this morning and shot a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy, a clerk and a judge; there are reports from both WSB and WAGA, the judge is deceased.
The perp has carjacked multiple vehicles -- now on his third -- and is still at large.
I've just come from downtown Atlanta, and the city is a madhouse.
Yes. MSNBC had him billed as a "Security Expert" and I believe he was a NYC cop at some point.
Last month, a defendant appeared before him who had beaten and shaken a 5-week-old child to death. He let her off with probation and a sterilization order.
One or two on this thread are upset by my posts. But all I am doing is pointing out facts.
Makes big bucks with his PI firm.
Was a NYC detective... now runs a private investigation and security firm. He's an interesting character.
don't be surprised...It happens here in Spokane , WA....if the media comes on to describe a perp, you would be surprised how often they never actually describe the person....yet they blankly stare at the camera and tell you to call the police if you see him........LOL
its all in code, you know....
I don't think the perp phoned in a call threatening the ADA.
Most likely a nutjob "piling on" to the hysteria.
Why didn't a phone trace at least give us an idea where the bad guy is?
Also, since this is an attack on the authorities, they may be going into hyperparonoid mode and "circling the wagons" to protect themselves.
This is a -very- dynamic situation. Expect lots of emotion and very bad information to be disseminated right now.
What if this were a five man cell of foreign troublemakers?
It's been what, -six- hours now?
OMG
It was pretty cool, actually. He was talking on and on and then in the middle of a thought he just said "and I'm putting up a $10,000 reward right now" as though he were making a bar bet. Pretty ballsy.
You are so right....I was just trying to be polite :-)
Can I call poster an idiot?
I love the guy.
What is your agenda in bringing up the judge's record. Are you saying, "No big deal? A "liberal" bites the farm, and maybe a "conservative" will get his seat?
What is your point????
I heard her talking to Blitzer & wondered how she was holding up. You could tell she was devastated. This must open old wounds in addition to the new ones.
It's like those stories when animals (pit bulls, wild animals etc) attack clueless people. It's touchy, especially early on, but there's is nothing wrong in pointing out that laxity in dealing with dangerous animals is not wise.
According to mhking, who was driving near the courthouse when this occured, the shooting was at 9 AM EST. It's now almost 7 PM EST. That's 10 hours and Nichols is still at large.
Not even the most liberal activist judge deserves to be gunned down in his own courtroom (or anywhere, for that matter). The reason we are against liberal activist judges is because we respect the law as written as well as the rule of law, and we are against legislating and social engineering from the bench. It's hypocritical to even suggest that the murder of a liberal judge is any less tragic or more justified than any other judge, for those who profess to respect the rule of law.
Exactly, I hope they have his victim in protective custody also. This guy is going to get more dangerous as the police get closer. I don't think this is going end in anyway but a shot out.
I see we're all going to ignore the elephant in our conservative livingrooms and pretend the problem isn't that a woman cannot do everything that a man can do. None of us are safe or getting what we pay taxes for so long as women are allowed to "protect" us when they are physically unable to do the job.
Ignoring the truth or being PC lest some twitty feminist's feelings get hurt is foolish and dangerous. Before the flames start pouring my way, be advised that I am female.
FINALLY......we get to the crux of the problem.....
did everybody notice this morning the hemming and hawing about the poor judges , such as Lefbow, and now this judge today, as well as TWO other judges killed in the last 20 yrs or so?
I have to ask?....are judges any more valuable then the rest of us?
how is it that judges across the country, along with Prosecutors and defense attorneys, have no qualms at all about releasing very violent criminals into society when they have got to know that these criminals are going to do more damage....
how many women have been gunned down by ex boyfriends or husbands who were released from domestic abuse charges and told to just "stay away"?....
think of the little Straynor kid...steven...for his cruel 7 yrs in captivity , the judge gave the perp only about 8 yrs in jail...after raping that poor young boy.....and of course, we all know that the perp got out and tried to capture another little boy....
how about the young girl who was raped and had her arms sawed off?...that guy got about 8 yrs too...only to murder another woman down in Florida...
let's bemoan the fact that the family of a judge was gunned down last week, and lets bemoan the fact that this apparently good man was gunned down today in court....
let's also bemoan all the people killed or raped by repeat offenders because the law was soft on them.......
point is......let's protect our judges, but judges must protect US as well....
This rapist appears to have better shooting skills than alot of the cops out there. How he got off 4-5 shots and hit four people is beyond me, and then be allowed to get out of the courtroom and building to boot. Very bad security.
He must have been taking tips from Jack Bauer.
It's really pretty hard to comprehend. From what people have been saying the court reporter was very well liked.. a really nice woman.
