Have you tried applying that to other Religions? Judaism? Christianity? Hindu? Buddhism?

Cult or Religion?

Neither. It's a military organization.

Having spent several years in Islamic countries, I can testify as to the Cult-like characteristics of the religion. A completely all pervasive, group think mentality that relies on substantial peer pressure to keep adherents in line. Prayers five times a day and calls to prayers blasted from loudspeakers - Straight out of Orwell.

By that definition modern Christianity would also be a cult.

Any religion based on killing people who don't convert, is a death cult.

"Islam is", Khataw preaches, "a peaceful religion that is focused on charity and goodwill toward others."

~ and ~

"Not to mention that Islam came to save humanity from ignorance and oppression. Islam is not a threat to any society. Islam calls for harmony and peaceful co-existence with other religions. It does not permit aggression, violence, injustice, or oppression. At the same time, it calls to morality, justice, tolerance, and peace."

Ummmm, no; no it's not. I won't go into *what it is*, as I'd probably get in trouble... aw, what the heck:

Islam, The Cult of Murder™.

Islam, The Cult of Terror™.

Islam, The Cult of Boy-Buggering™.

Islam, The Cult of Women-Chattelling™.

Islam, The Cult of Horror™.

Islam, The Cult of Rape™.

Islam, The Cult of Ritual Killing™.

Islam, The Cult of Beheading™.

Islam, The Cult of Deviants™.

Islam, The Cult of Hate™.

Islam, The Cult of Lies™.

Islam, The Cult of Female Mutilation™.

Islam, The Cult of Death™.

Islam, The Cult of Christian & Jew Killing™.

Islam, The Cult of Infidel Murder™.

Islam, The Cult of The Mentally-Ill™.

Islam, the Cult of Evil™.

Islam, the Cult of Poverty™.

Islam, the Cult of Illiteracy™.

Islam, the Religion of Peace™, and THEY'LL KILL YOU TO PROVE IT! (I promise: last time I'll post this, but it's so appropos to this thread, it begs posting.)

For example, not until a few centuries ago everyone believed that the Earth is flat...

Beep. Circle takes the square. The Greeks knew the world was spherical. Not only was this statement factually wrong, it is also an abomination grammatically. If this is the best work these folks can put out on this subject, they've indicated they can't be bothered to do even the most infintessimal amount of research and proofreading and I won't waste my time on reading further.

Be careful with this. IMO, this could apply to some of the Christian denominations too.

Respectfully. What's the point in all of this? What it's gonna solve if you prove it's a cult. Just think, if you changed each instance of the nouns Moslem or Islam to a different Ideology or Persuasion it would probably be Hate Speech. This is their culture. You're not gonna change it. Only a display of power and strength is gonna keep the bad guys in line. But, perjorative invective just gets more people killed.

In a cult the leader is alive. In a religion the laws (thought to be) left by the leader are followed.

New converts are often circled and are isolated from their non-Muslim family and friends.

And forming a new identity... losing your own connection to your family (surname) and adopting a new Muslim first AND last name...

By this measure, Christianity in 1492 was a cult. Given Islam is about 700 years behind the rest of the world, there is hope in the long distant future.

Well, in logic we have something called "argumentum ad numerum". It states that something is true if a lot of people believe in it. But argumentum ad numerum is a logical fallacy.

Anytime someone starts off an argument with this pretense, you can bet and almost certainly win that the argument to follow is flawed logic.

By your criteria, most born-again Christians would just as well be considered to be members of a cult.

Matches Cult.

I have seen the leftists who use the term "fundies" TRY and apply the same cult reasoning to Christianity. However, it tends to break down because of differing denominations and those who alter words to fit their individual power grabs. (ie mistranslate bible verses or just make them up)

Islam, The Alleged Religion of Peace® ( TARP™ )? Click this picture:

No, I am not exaggerating. Click the pic, go to "last," and read backwards.
If you aren't informed about this stuff, you will be made sick. If you are informed, you will be made mad, all over again.
