The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

U.S. works 'day and night' to rein in al-Qaida
Full Story

WASHINGTON - Prompted by new intelligence indicating Osama bin Laden reached out to the most feared terrorist in Iraq, President Bush charged Thursday that "al-Qaida still hopes to attack us on our own soil."

"Recently, we learned that Osama bin Laden has urged the terrorist Zarqawi to form a group to conduct attacks outside Iraq, including here in the United States," Bush said at the swearing-in of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The president vowed, "We're working every day and night to dismantle (bin Laden's) network and to bring him to justice."

"Mid-Missouri Freeper Assaulted"
self | 3/17/05 | Dogrobber

Posted on 03/17/2005 7:40:39 PM PST by Dogrobber

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Yesterday Freeper Bluesagewoman was rudely introduced to the reality of the "peacenik" outlook; i.e. she was assaulted while demonstrating her support for our military.

Every Wednesday the local peace crowd gathers at the busiest intersection in town and holds signs and banners critical of the war and/or George Bush. Even though the war is won and Iraq on its way towards a real life, they still decry the "butchery" and foolishness of the war. Bluesagewoman does not go to this corner because the "peace" protestors are rude and have a history of pushing people around. She stands about a half block away and holds her signs.

Even though she stands at least 100 yards or more from the group, this Wednesday two men came to where she was standing. One man took pictures and the second man sought to "give" her a political flyer by thrusting it into her chest. When she told him, loudly, "Don't touch me," he responded by physically pushing the flyer into her body, moving her backwards. Again, she said "Don't touch me." He did it a third time and with each thrust of this flyer he moved her back. Again she said "Don't touch me." The last time he did this Bluesagewoman grabbed his hand before he could push her again and he struck her in the face with his other hand.

Fortunately, Bluesagewoman was not significantly hurt. Her glasses were bent and she has a sore spot on one check, but she is more mad than hurt. She called the police but the officer who came to take the assault report did not arrive before the man and his photo taking friend left. I know other Freepers have had similar experiences and Bluesagewoman has just joined that group."

Hey guys, i've been pretty busy lately. Like half of you, reading as much as possible daily.

One particular article erked me yesterday, the one where the north koreans considered that military exercise, a "War move" or something of the sort.

Do you think that statement constitutes taking action on their part? i dont need to remind anybody that kim dong ill is nuts, so i wouldnt put it beneath him.

Also theres been a quake in tenessee, odd. I didnt think that region would be prone to a quake at all,

and last but not least, Jill's site has been updated and the jihadis seem to have a pretty well drawn up 'plan' (whatever you want to call it) especially about exhausting the oil supplies, and their assisnation squads etc. If you are in the mood for reading that translated stuff (You know how lengthy it can be reading word for word and trying to make sense of it) it's worth noting.

good morning everyone, let's hope today stays quiet.

(On the news though they just talked about it being a 2 year anniversary of something iraq related, is today an official date i dont know about?

Cindy are you STILL awake? lol.

peece people,

-skeggs

TERROR'S NEW FRONTIER: UNDERWATER

MANILA, Philippines, March 18, 2005

Authorities fear scuba divers could target ships with more accuracy than a small explosive-laden boat like the one used in the USS Cole blast.

(AP) Two of the most dangerous al Qaeda-linked groups in Southeast Asia are working together to train militants in scuba diving for seaborne terror attacks, according to the interrogation of a recently captured guerrilla.

The ominous development is outlined in a Philippine military report obtained Thursday by The Associated Press that also notes increasing collaboration among the Muslim militants in other areas, including financing and explosives, as extremists plot new ways to strike.....

Searched the newswires today and didn't come up with anything. Either a false alarm or one of those "There's nothing to see here folks, move along..." things.

I searched as well and didn't see anything. Moving along... ;-)

Tennessee is on the New Madrid fault line. It has been quite active lately.

The New Madrid Fault Line
Named for the Missouri town which first witnessed its might, the New Madrid fault line runs southward near the Mississippi River, crossing into Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Although the one-hundred and fifty mile long fault line cannot be seen on the surface of the earth, at least one of its 200 quakes each year can be felt by humans. During the period from late 1811 to early 1812, a series of over 2000 earthquakes were felt in this region. Three earthquakes estimated to be 7.5 or greater on the Richter scale occurred during this time, making it the site of the largest earthquake in the continental United States. These quakes flattened homes and thousands of acres of forests, formed new lakes, and even changed the course of the Mississippi River.

Jews ‘Secretly Buy’ Al-Quds Properties From Church (
IslamOnline.net & News Agencies ^ | March 18, 2005

Posted on 03/18/2005 11:53:43 AM EST by concrete is my business

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM,

Two groups of foreign Jewish investors had secretly purchased two large properties run by the Greek Orthodox Church in the holy city of Al-Quds, a leading Israeli newspaper revealed on Friday, March 18.

The revelation has raised alarm bells on Jewish attempts to control the occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), where holy Islamic and Christian sites are based.

It is made a few days after Jewish extremists threatened to strike Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest shrine also located in Al-Quds.

In a one-page article titled "Omar Square in our hands", the Maariv daily said a number of overseas Jewish investors paid millions of dollars to purchase a tract of land in Omar Ibn Khatib Square downtown the Jaffa Gate, which lies at the main entrance to the Old City.

The purchase deal, which was carried out with money transferred through various European banks, was made by ideological Jews who claimed attempting to "liberate the lands of Jerusalem", the Israeli daily was quoted by Agence France Presse (AFP) as saying.

Jaffa Gate is the main western entrance to Jerusalem's Old City. It is flanked with shops selling tourist trinkets, mostly Arab-run.

The site is home to two landmark properties managed by two well-known Palestinian families; the Imperial hotel and the Petra hotel.

Neither the hotel managers nor the shop owners had any knowledge of the secret land sale.

In February, Israel’s Attorney General Menachem Mazuz ordered the government to rescind a decision to enforce a decades-old law under which large tracts of Palestinian land in occupied Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) could be confiscated by Israel.

Palestinian experts have also warned against Israeli plans to drive Palestinian citizens away from Al-Quds under pretexts of development, saying the Jewish state’s real motive is striking a demographic balance between in the overwhelmingly Palestinian city.

The Israel-run Al-Quds Municipality said last year it was ready to "compensate those willing to leave their homes with alternative houses outside the Old City.

"No Idea"

A source close to the Greek Orthodox patriarch denied church had any knowledge about the land sale.

The source told AFP that "an internal investigation" was underway to reveal details of the issue.

It stressed that the Jerusalem Patriarch Irineos I would never have agreed to such a transaction and that suspicions were growing that it had been carried out by a Greek Orthodox lawyer who had acted outside the bounds of his authority and then fled the country to avoid detection.

In purchasing tracts of land in the holy city, Jewish investors often use Palestinian middlemen to buy the land in exchange for huge sums of money, according to AFP.

In 1997, three Palestinian property agents who sold land to Jewish investors were found killed.

"Ticking bombs"

The revelation of the land sale in the Old City adds to fears over mounting Jewish threats on Jerusalem.

On Wednesday, March 16, Israel private television screened a video showing far right-Jewish extremists, including rabbis, discussing ways of occupying Al-Aqsa Mosque in a bid to sabotage Israel's planned withdrawal from Gaza.

Al-Aqsa mosque imam Sheikh Yussuf Abu Sneinan warned on Friday that Jewish threats to storm the holy place were "ticking bombs", holding the Israeli government responsible for any attack against Al-Aqsa mosque.

"Threats of destroying Al-Aqsa and attacking peaceful worshippers are ticking bombs aimed at Muslims and this holy mosque," he said during the Friday prayers.

In response, Palestinian Premier Ahmed Qorei on Thursday asked Israel to thwart any strike against Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Al-Quds.

In recent months, sources in the Israeli Shin Bet security service have expressed concern regarding possible missile or air bombing attack by individuals or groups on the compound with the purpose of scuttling the Gaza pullout plan, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the Muslims’ first Qiblah [direction Muslims take during prayers] and it is the third holiest shrine after Al Ka'bah in Makkah and Prophet Muhammad's

Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Its significance has been reinforced by the incident of Al Isra'a and Al Mi'raj -- the night journey from Makkah to Al-Quds and the ascent to the Heavens by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
