Osama bin Laden's recent message to colleague Abu Musab al-Zarqawi asking him to launch attacks on U.S. soil represents the surrender of the terror leader, says a leading geopolitical expert.
In a column on his intelligence website, To the Point, Dr. Jack Wheeler says the war on terrorism may have been won on March 1, when U.S. intelligence announced it had intercepted bin Laden's message to the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq.

Agreed, Zarqawi has his hands full killing Shiites (which is getting harder and harder) and running from US and Iraqi Forces (attacks on US forces down 50%) and now he's supposed to spin around and attack the Great Satan? If not beaten, it is an astounding admission of weakness.
"Dear Abu. I'm afraid I must announce to the world that, as a pitiful schmuck hiding in a mountain cave, I am powerless to organize or conduct any more terrorist attacks on the Great Satan of America. Can you do anything? I know you're being hunted down in every mud-hole in Iraq right now, and it might be a little difficult for you to make your way undetected to the U.S., create your own terrorist network since mine obviously no longer functions, and start your own terrorist war there but do your best, OK? I am depending on you, since our Islamofascist brothers can no longer depend on me. Yours, Osama."
My thoughts exactly.
Go, W.....
I know, but I couldnt remember how to spell it and I was typing really fast at work :) sorry about that...
He could be alive even if some of the tapes are fakes. Of course, a fake tape that he doesn't publicly disown would imply either that he is unable to respond for some reason or that he feels it's bait that he would be better off not to take.
For example he seemed to know details about the 'Goat Story' that did not even appear in the US press.
I recall that being in the news about that time because it was featured by Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 9/11. As I recall, it was referred to quite a bit on liberal talk shows, in letters to the editor by Kerry supporters, and that sort of thing.
To quote Mark Steyn:
Many reporters commented
on his reference to My Pet Goat
made famous by Fahrenheit 9/11
as the book President Bush
and that Florida grade-school were deeply immersed in
on the morning of September 11th.
But only Tim Blair
the great Australian wag
noticed the most salient fact.
This is what the bin man said:
It appeared to him
[Bush]
that a little girls talk about her goat
and its butting
was more important
than the planes
and their butting of the skyscrapers.
Blair pointed out
that unlike Michael Moore
who just used the books title
as a cheap gag
at the Presidents expense
Osama went to the trouble of mastering the plot.
In My Pet Goat
the eponymous hero prevents his little friends dads car
being stolen
by butting the thieves.
If you go down to a polling station tomorrow
and talk to the anti-Bush crowd
youll notice
that despite having been doing
the Shrub sat there reading My Pet Goat for seven whole minutes!
cracks to like-minded chums
for six months
your average leftie windbag hasnt been motivated
to find out anything about the book
beyond the title.
Maybe Osama
or his doppelladen
just took a lucky shot:
If its a book about a goat
its bound to involve plenty of butting.
Dont forget
this is a guy
who lives in a cave in Waziristan
so hes no stranger to goat-butting.
