Judge releases contractor who sold fake IDs

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- A 22-year-old man suspected of selling U.S. Army identification cards to nonmilitary personnel was arrested on federal charges and released pending a future court date, the U.S. Marshals Service said Friday.

The ID cards for several military installations could give the holder access to military bases around the world. Yusuf Kahlil Jackson turned himself in to federal authorities Wednesday after he saw a television report identifying him as a wanted suspect, said Kevin B. Connolly, a supervisory inspector with the U.S. Marshals. Jackson appeared in U.S. District Court Thursday and was released on bond pending a later court date.

Jackson was working as a civilian contract employee in the military ID office at Fort Myer and produced the fake IDs between April and October of 2004. WJLA-TV first reported that Jackson was wanted for making and selling about 30 fraudulent ID cards to local residents and foreign nationals.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Belvoir, Va., filed a criminal complaint against Jackson for "knowingly and without lawful authority producing identification documents and false identification documents."

The investigation began in October when an Alexandria man with no military affiliation was found with an ID that listed him as a "cadet." The man paid Jackson $25 and a small amount of marijuana for the ID, according to charging documents. The man told investigators he wanted the ID to get into area clubs and bars.

Connolly said the U.S. Marshals had the arrest warrant for less than six hours before Jackson called to surrender.

Mr Jackson (anyone want to guess his religion?) is being squeezed very, very hard. When that process is exhausted, then he should be shot.

Selling to "foreign nationals."

Just great. "Yusuf Kahlil Jackson" is selling perfectly valid ID cards to you-know-who "foreign nationals", and he walks on bond!

90% chance he skips bond or is killed by former customers!

Well, it's nice to know that this judge isn't worried about national security. What in the world could he be thinking?

Well, they found a Pakistani National with one of the cards.

Jackson also had a lengthy criminal history including identity theft.

Well, prolly he just wanted to help people get a good deal on tires and stuff at the exchange, right?  I mean, there's nothing (Yusuf Kahlil) to suggest anything sinister, right?

Military ID's aren't merely photos and a laminated cards these days. The new "CAC" contains a biometric chip, prints, photo, and can be used to swipe your way past access points.

I wonder how much capability Jackson introduced into these "ID cards".

I don't think a picture of his face is neccessary. His name gives us the picture of all we need to know.

Another example of liberal judges turning loose someone who should be behind bars or shot.

What possible reason could there be for omitting this judge's name from the article?

Here's a link to a page that has a video that shows Jackson's mug.

< sarcasm> Why is everyone so upset? It is not as if thousands of guys like this aren't flooding across the border every day. No one is doing anything about the border so why worry about some little non-issue like this? Don't worry, be happy. < /sarcasm>
