Elderly man found beaten to death
By: Shari Small
A 13-year old boy has been charged with the first murder of the year in San Luis Obispo, after investigators say the teenager beat 87-year old Jerry O'Malley to death over the weekend.
As police continue their investigation, a teenager who lives across the street from O'Malley's mobile home says the 13-year old boy accused of the murder shared with her every detail of the crime.
"He went through his pockets and got his money and took out his credit card and car key," says Viviana Cordova.
Cordova, who is also 13, says O'Malley lay dead in his San Luis Obispo trailer for days, after the boy killed the man by beating him with a skateboard several times. Cordova says doubt and fear kept her from reporting what she knew.
"I thought he was lying," says Cordova. "But then when I found out that he had hit him and stuff like that, I just got real scared."
Witnesses say the boy came back with a friend for O'Malley's car; an abandoned SUV led police to the scene.
"The officer checked the registration and came back to a resident in the park," says Rob Bryn, of the San Luis Obispo Police Department. "He went to the trailer, where he discovered the body."
"They were over at my house and they saw the cops had drove up, and so they ran through the back and ran out and they left," says Cordova.
Based on tips the police received, the boys ended up at Railroad Station in San Luis Obispo and were arrested-- just one mile from where O'Malley's body was discovered. The 13-year old boy is being charged with murder, and the 12-year old boy investigators say helped him steal the car is charged with auto theft. Both boys have been booked into the Juvenile Services Center.
It's believed Jerry O'Malley has a grown son who lives outside of the area, but police have not located him yet. The coroner's office says O'Malley, a retired Master Sergeant in the Air Force, died from a blunt head injury.
Terrible.
Good thing the Supreme Court stepped in to invalidate the death penalty for these types. (sarcasm)
I'd pull the switch right now.
There you have it Supremes, now the kid has free room and board and medical for life! I wonder why my taxes are so high in California?
Ban skateboards.
Just like mad dogs, euthanize the little bastards.
They'll be out be 18.
Stronger and tougher.
The reporter is totally irresponsible in releasing the 13 year old girl's name.
"They'll be out be 18". MEANT, They'll be out BY 18
Now, tell me? Do you think this boy knew what he was doing? Or do you think he was a wayward little boy who still thought that when you killed somebody they would go on living as the do in the movies? This boy deserves to fry. He is broken and cannot be fixed.
You got that exactly right!
I guess he's taking advantage of the Supreme Court's ruling.
Unfortunately it will probably be only until he is 18, they he'll get out and three years later if he is still free he'll get to register and vote for Democrats. Nice, no?
They=then (and I used preview too!)
These kids "parents" are the MSM and the liberal left.
The Supreme Court has already ruled that the "boy" cannot be held accountable. The boy was simply "playing" and got carried away. Think of European sensibilities. I feel the need for some cheese and wine...
Anyone think this kid should not be executed for his crime?
