There are so many more outstanding black men to honor then WEB DuBois. While he was a interesting and thought provoking figure that doesn't qualify him for special recognition. It would be interesting to see a senator from Alabama trying to get someone like George Wallace special honors. It would be the same thing, someone outside of the mainstream of American thought, who was the center of controversy. DuBois was a racist radical pure and simple, just like Wallace but in reverse. I think that he is a perfect example of the way that socialism and communism influenced the creation of modern American liberalism.
