A change in environment dry and heavy with sand to one that is more humid would create a increase in mucous. An increase in mucous creates a good environment for growth media for pathogens.
Yes but geez, to go to 109 fever is way off the scale as far as an out-lyer event is concerned. The immune system should take care of any sudden infection even if the effect is a 103 or 104 fever. Guess we'll have to wait for autopsy results.
