So sad....I hope the other guy comes clean so folks can have some closure. Have you posted this to the Texas list? Do so, if you haven't. I'm further north, but I know we got some awesome FReepers down there. Prayers.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I really really am.
I live in NY- different laws but
I lost two good friends in a car accident last year. The Driver was on drugs and he was speeding.
Many people thought he was going to just get away with it. There was allot of talk as to whether or not he was actually on drugs.
But Justice takes a while. He was arrested a month and a half later. He's already been sentenced to prison.
Investigations take time.
If the driver was a minor (you can get your license at 16) they can't legally release any information on them.

My prayers are with the family of your friend Kim, that God will bring them comfort and strength in this very difficult time, and that God will be merciful in granting Kim entrance to the Kingdom of Heaven.
I bid you take comfort in the fact the while Almighty is often times mysterious, He is never malicious.
I'm so sorry.
They have only told us that he is male, no age, name, condition, etc.
I forget whether its when hes formally arrested or if its when hes charged. At some point it becomes public information and you dont have to be family to request or be told who it is. I suppose if hes detained and released they may not have to identify.
DPS is being very quiet about the guy that killed Kim.
Ive also had an incident where a deputy (drunk and off-duty) took out about 60 feet of my fence.
They kept that hushed up for a while (Multnomah County Sheriff). But then, a fatality was not involved. They wont be able to cover up anything (if thats what youre suggesting) if there is a fatality. Not IMO.
There might be a person or two that would like to there might even be a few seriously tempted to but therell be enough people involved that wont be willing to hang their hat on that stand that it wont happen. Just have to wait a while.

BASTROP COUNTY
One killed, one hurt in collision
One person was killed and another person was injured in a three-vehicle collision Sunday evening.
Kimberly Goss was driving a Nissan north on FM 20 shortly after 8 p.m. when a southbound Chevrolet pickup driven by Mario Munoz overcorrected at Pleasant Chapel Road, hitting the Nissan, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Goss, of Austin, died at the scene.
The pickup spun, colliding with a northbound Ford Explorer driven by Wendy Hernandez, which then overturned. Hernandez and her husband, Bastrop County Sheriff Richard Hernandez, crawled out.
The sheriff pulled Munoz out of his burning vehicle, and Munoz was taken to Brackenridge Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Monday. The Hernandezes were not seriously injured.
Investigators said they think Munoz was speeding before the collision. The weather was dry at the time. The wreck occurred about six miles southwest of Bastrop.
Condolences to you, Kimberly's family and friends.
I wish there was more I could do with your other requests.
