I am sure I remember reading that the Blessed Mother told Lucia not only that Francisco and Jacinta would die young but that she would live to see the end times. This must be it.

"John Paul II has privately speculated that the fulfillment of Fatima is now at Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina, where seers have claimed to have received secrets since just after the 1981 shooting."

With all the controversy surrounding Medjugorje, I find it compelling that JPII has indeed speculated that the alleged appartions in Bosnia could very well be the fulfillment of Fatima. I'm really intrigued by that!!!

There is also the third secret of Fatima, I wonder what that is about.

John Paul II never speculated any such thing. Medjugorje has never been approved by the Church, even after three commission investigations.

Here. Read what the current bishop, Bishop Peric, said just last summer:

Fifthly, the "seers" who see visions on a daily basis and the endless apparitions themselves (33,333 to date, nor it there any risk of my being mistaken, for there is no end to the numbers or the "visions") are more in the nature of a religious show and a spectacle for the world than a true and faithful witness to the peace and unity of the Faith and love for the Church. Who can fail to see that these endlessly multiplying numbers should not be taken seriously? Shall we change our Catholic orthodoxy for fantastical superstition?

False prophecy doesn't exactly make one popular with the Almighty.

(Is it true that over 1,000 people at the time witnessed what they thought was the Sun, moving in, above their heads, looking like a huge UFO? And that had a lot to do with the Church accepting the miracle?)

Let me add a little bit from memory. A miracle was prophesied at least a month in advance to the exact minute. As it turned out it was the miracle of the sun. 60,000 people showed up on a completely overcast horrible rainy day. They were all soaked. Some were atheist, there to debunk, to include a NY times reporter.

Breakes in the cloud cover occurred and then the sun display lasted for several minutes. It was described as it danced and cavorted across the skies to radiate showers of brightly colored offshoots much like a 4 July spin wheel. (some one help with the name.)The final scene was the sun plunging to earth. The crowd thought they were goners. When it was all over the skies cleared. All were dry.

The NY Time atheist reporter submitted a major story accurately. It was given front page coverage at the time. I am certain that there is a talented freeper that could find that report.

I'm well aware of all the controversy surrounding Medjugorje. You are preaching to the choir!

Re-read the article posted on Spirit Daily - it says it right there - "JPII speculates privately......."

I have no idea how this private speculation of our beloved Pope gets it's legs in the media.....maybe there is some unknown entity pushing the Medjugorje agenda down unsuspecting throats. I don't care one way or the other.....as a Catholic I'm not bound to believe Medjugorje or Fatima. I would though like to know if John Paul's private speculations is indeed fact.

My apologies to Postvat and Coleus,

Their post 33 and 38 are Superior to mine. I jumped the gun without reading all the posts. I should have known that there would be Freepers with the full story. My apologies to all.

She is now on the other side of His grace. I remember sitting in our auditorium with the entire Catholic school back in the late 70s, watching the movie about the children of Fatima. It was a peak moment in my childhood. Right after that, I joined the Sodality.

I find it very doubtful that JPII said anything positive about Medjugorje.

I find this piece of info very difficult to believe. So, I shall not believe it.
