Hi, Pookie! Here are the Hugh Hewitt pics, which were taken outside the grand ballroom of the Hilton in downtown Minneapolis last Thursday evening. Patriot radio in the twin cities http://www.am1280thepatriot.com hosted the event. Hugh debated Peter Beinart, editor of the New Republic. To capsulate the debate; Mr. Beinart stated that Michael Moore does not represent the Democratic party, and Hugh Hewitt pointed out that Mr. Beinart was still one of the only Democrats saying as much.

If you could do me the favor of mentioning http://www.fraterslibertas.com with the pics it would be much appreciated, as well as Hugh's site at http://www.hughhewitt.com. Fraters is a member of the Northern Alliance of bloggers, which includes Hugh's site as well as Powerline, Captain's Quarters and others. I learned of Hugh's visit through Fraters, and "Saint Paul" has been very supportive of my toon, giving it a few plugs as of late on Fraters as well. Chris (the original faithmouse) glassed over a little at the debate (politics isn't her strong suit) but she did get to meet James Lileks, which was a big thrill for her. Chris and I both got to meet Hugh, who couldn't be sweeter, even though he had a bad case of the flu. Hugh knew of faithmouse, an even bigger thrill for me. He offered a quick quip in favor of the world of cartooning, but I was so exhausted I can't remember exactly what he said although it had something to do with the White House.

Anyway, I presented him with a complete copy of last Wednesday's Today's Toons thread, which came out to a big 69 pages. Chris snapped the photo, and that's what he's holding in the pic. You can't see the complete bottom line of text on the cover, but it does say "Free Republic.com." As I type, he's probably blowing his nose and enjoying the toons on an airplane somewhere over the continental U.S.

It was a lot of fun putting together the collection and having the opportunity to present it to Hugh. I enjoy your compilations, regardless of whether you include any of my toons (really). I think we all appreciate the time you take to put the collection together, and so this was my way of saying thanks.

So, thanks!

In Christ,

Dan

Nice job pookie.
For anybody afflicted with insomnia try reading Beinart in the New Republic. He's the editor and is always trying to define the Democrats and make them into his own image. He prides himself on being in the intellectual wing of the party. Among them he stands out. Basically the best the libs have to offer is a bunch of cheap shots and he is their artist.

Thanks. Saw Beinart debating Ann Coulter on C-SPAN in a venue hostile to her...what a surprise ;-)

I'm beginning to feel that my subject line was unintentionally misleading :-( Hugh Hewitt is now in possession of a copy of Today's Toons as opposed to my meeting him...

OK...good! FYI, another Freeper has told me that he regularly sends it to Paul Weyrich for his enjoyment.

Intellectual wing?

There's really Dummycrat intellectuals?

All I ever hear from them are angry put-downs. I never hear any reasoned debate from them.
